Debunking old stereotypes
Some of you may remember this thread from last year: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42831&highlight=electric+shows
Well, this year Nickelpimp, Etype R and I, with the help of One of Bigballers Novak racing brushless systems, took home the R/C X-Games Gold in the Spud run representing MNRCRC and electric power in general "thumbsup"
Truck spec's:
Name: Spud Buggy (A take off from the old cartoon Speed Buggy for those not old enough to know)
Bug body of course
Locked Tlt axles
Locked pede tranny
Pro-Line paddles front and back
Etype R built torsion chassis
Cheapo Futaba steering servo
32 pitch gearing with a 54/12 combo
And last but not least: a Novak GTB brushless racing ESC, with a 4.5R Velociti race tuned brushless motor
For those that don't know what a "Spud run" is?? check the link to last years thread for explanation.
Each competitor gets 3 runs.
My First run we had it geared too high and bogged out after about half way through.
After a visit to the pits, and a gearing change, my Second run the truck died about 20" into the run.
Back to the pits where an electrical connection problem was found.
The Third and final run had to count, and it turned out to be a charm
I had a 4.52 second run, taking 1st with a few trucks yet to complete all their runs.
Paul from R/C Car Kings, the event sponsor was kind enough to let me run a unofficial timed run to really let her fly, since I held back my 3rd and final run to make sure I didn't get snaky and fly out of the pit.
On that run I had a 3.60
The official winning times were:
1/8th scale class 4.52
5th scale class 4.10
This year they has a separate class for the 5th scalers (which they should of had last year)
Special thanks goes out to:
Nickelpimp for building the truck and acting as crew chief "thumbsup"
Etype R for helping in the pits and taking pic's "thumbsup"
Bigballer for supplying the Novak power "thumbsup"
R/C Car Kings for sponsoring the event "thumbsup"
Mike Fisk/FHF Racing R/C X-Games promoter "thumbsup"
Watch the R/C X-Games thread for pic's and links to vids which should be posted soon.
