Hey Cory, are you still running this machine or is this what became the sports man. I am in the process of getting parts for my build and am wondering what pinion and spur setup you are using at the moment.
This is what became the Sportsman. It really always was a Sportsman.
Probably have a 14 tooth pinion, and likely an 87 tooth spur. I bought a Robinson 90 tooth to try, for no reason really, and zipped off a bunch of teeth. Pretty sure I bought only one, so likely an 87 is on there now. The original motor plate is flexy, and sometimes that 10T Puller gets hungry.
All it needs is a micro receiver and it's good to go. It's been sitting dormant for some times, right along side the Berg, which also needs nothing more than a receiver to run. And the receiver they both require to run is currently in the Losi that I've been running for the last year.
I was saying the SSS is too bad ass to tear apart. The Losi is nice too, though.
Yeah it's a good chassis, but it takes some work to get it to work really well. Heck it takes some work to get it to work good. It's pretty much a total custom build. Very unique driving experience, and a great chassis if you like to tweak things. If I were you, I'd make sure Don at Billet Works is still offering replacement sideplates, just in case...
