EP's DNA SSS Axial

Oh yes....run the full tire. Just got my Psycho 'locks and I wrapped full Panthers around them with the CRWLER1 foams inside...and I think I'm going to like these.....8)

Could you give us an overall height on those?

Hey EP, thinking of building one of these rigs and i noticed you were running stock rover foams, this still the case or did you change them up? I'm gonna be running white rovers also but unsure of what foams to use of now, was thinking pro-line 2 stages also.

Yo!

I'm still using the stock foam and find nothing wrong with them on this thing. I suggest trying them out with the stock foam and see how they work for ya. Might save ya some cash.

... But if you're on the tall tire bandwagon, then you'll definitely want another foam.

Thanks for the info, im not totally on the "tall tire" wagon just yet. Gonna try them out first and go from there, I can assure you a set of "smaller tires" will find there way onto my wheels someday.

Tough driving, finished third. I knew before hand that'd I'd be upside down a lot and I was.

What I think I haven't quite fully grasped yet is the being at the very edge of the limit right before it rolls over sideways as it's all flexed out. I think with everything being so light that when the spring finally lets go, it happens so quickly that I can't catch it sometimes. I mean it's a high limit, very high, and when it wants to go, it's more or less already upside down. With more wheel weight the spring would be slower and I might be able to catch it.

Just a thought...

For the most part the truck was just stuck to the rocks.

Good action shots Cory. Hopefuly you can get a grasp of the "limit" soon. I know your a very good driver though and you'll be able to get it!

Sorry to bump this thread back, but EeePee what puller is your fav? The 454, the 500 or the fullsize? I have a sss in the mail and I want to know what you prefer. I have a full size 7t and 3s. But I am pretty certain that the 3s will go to another rig as it is to big to sit on the front axle. So I was looking at the more zippy little motors, to try and get my wheel speed back up. I was thinking 454 and 2s maxamps 860mah which puts out 21.5 amps which would get my wheelspeed about the same as the 7t and 3s, but am willing to be influenced by your opinion.

Thanks mate

I would stick with a 500 puller. The 454 would work but its going to lack in toque some, and you will have to be a lot more careful with the temps. The 454 gets hot easily. "thumbsup"

Full size is my favorite, by far. Nothing can compare, except for maybe another wind Puller.

Then the 500, then the 454. Though I wish the 454 had the grunt the 500 did, simply cause it's the right color, smaller, and a bit faster.

The 454 works okay, just the 500 has a tad bit more power.

Ok thanks it looks like I might stick with my 7t for while and see how it goes. I wish Mr Holmes would come out with a fullsize puller with say 2500kv that only draws 20 amps. Hmm I guess we can only wish. Can you only get the 500 pullers in that ghastly blue or can you get them in black? Might have to look out for the sensored outrunners8)

Another event, one in which I failed at quite miserably. This place is boulders and holes. I can float the holes and it works awesome. But with a really light truck and not a lot of flex and those big boulders, I'm either upside down, or about to be. :ror:

Knowing how my previous runs went, I opted for a heavier wheel set up to get some flex into the truck. Back at the ECC event I won a set of Vanquish Revolvers and some weights. I mounted up some fairly fresh Panthers and used their super soft memory foam. Two additional weights in the fronts, so the front was only two ounces heavier than the rear. It felt like my total wheel weight had doubled.

The rock is like 60 grit sandpaper. The Panthers have more traction than the Rovers. Traction was overabundant. I was bogging down an already tired Cobalt 500 motor. It was stalling out pretty bad. Combined with some bad choices, I failed to finish the course.

Switched back to the lighter Eritex wheels and Rovers. Didn't finish either of the two remaining courses, though I got far through them. Disappointing day, but knowing I had second place for the series in the bag made it easy I guess. In the end I did get second for the series with a truck that was unlike anything I'd ever seen, or driven before. I started fresh and developed it as I went on, found it's limits, and got good with it. No dig shafty against a bunch of cheater dig trucks I feel I faired well. I love the truck, it's not going anywhere. It does some moves I found hard to believe. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.

Thanks for the pictures Jeff.

And thanks everyone. Time for a Losi truck. "thumbsup"

well at least you learned more about the truck. I found the same thing out with mine. some courses work well with the lighter wheels while others need the heavier rims for the flex. I did a small comp the other week and failed miserably as well, the lighter wheels just were not cutting it and it didnt help having the rovers on the rocks. But Ill get me a set of them panthers and give it a try and see if that changes everything around.

So are you saying that panthers on the lighter rims would do better and Rovers on the heavier rims?

When you put it in front of me like that I guess I am saying that. :ror:

I'm a Panther fan, and would choose those over Rovers usually. Heavy or light.

Thing is, where I run every Tuesday the Rovers work better. Not because of traction, but because of their size and shape. The stickier Panthers will collect dust to the point of them not having the traction advantage. So it comes down to the lug pattern and size and shape, and the Rovers seem to work better where I'm at, they make driving easier. And since I'm more accustomed to them, I stick with them for the Point Series comps and usually they're fine.

I firmly believe the Panthers have the traction advantage.

The dude wearing that is like almost 7 feet tall, tatty'd, loud and loves Jaeger.

Great times.
