e's ExMT

T's servos and arms are in. The fit at the shaft is very nice, takes very little torque to solidly attach.

Also, Losikid sent me the parts to set my left stick up to RTC. It's going to help a lot...

@ Losikid... Thanks, man.

By "stock" do you mean XR10s? What are the lengths of those, compressed and extended?

Sory it took me so long to respond Army stuff has had me un available and I'm in the middle of buying my fist house. Life is crazy. I just found out my wife and I are having another baby.

Any how I have min set to stroke 1 3/4 inches over all length is 3 1/2in. Can't wait to see it go.

Congrats on the impending new "crawler"!

Can't ask for a better buyer's market on the house... congrats on that, too. Gonna put a rock pile in the backyard?

Congratz Adam"thumbsup" Now you are officially outnumbered.

It looks like T is going to a conference in Provo UT in July. We are talking about making it a road trip for just us, and checking out some rocks. If anyone has suggestions for good crawling spots along the way, I'd like to start planning the route soon. We're planning to take our sweet time, so we can wander from the plan if we find interesting tangents.

I'll have to pick up the pace on our rigs. "thumbsup"

T's radio came today. We could not be happier with the craftmanship. The programming slot looks like it was there all along, and the wheel feels smooth and precise. The screen is quite easy to read in any light, and makes me wonder why the factory doesn't do it that way.

Thanks, M. Good job.

We have a lot to learn about this thing. Once we do, I'm seriously thinking about treating myself to one. They really are sweet. "thumbsup"

I guess I missed out on the TX thing. What TX did you get?

I'll field this one...

A hacked FlySky GT3B.

The hacks/mods include:

6 Channel Hack (more channels)
Steering Wheel Bearing (smoother wheel and longer lasting)
Invert Screen (easier to read in the sunlight)
Voltage Regulator (more efficient, batteries last longer)

I was getting one of these radios, and E did some work for my Mad Max, so we bartered the labor and I sent him the TX.

@ekd - I am still learning the TX too. Took a lot of time off from RC this last semester, so I've forgotten quite a bit. Picking it back up quickly though.

I have to say:

M, you do very clean work. I could find no indication that this thing had ever been out of the box. You have to know what it is, to know anyone had ever been inside.

To say that I am eagerly looking forward to seeing how your M/M turns out... would be an understatement.

"thumbsup"

These are the sleeves Don commissioned from me. They are a great idea.

To convert the most possible of the normal bending loads (which snap the stock axle stubs) to tensile (stretching) loads, the fit has to be very precise.

You can see that the brand new stubs had to have the peaks in the stock finish removed (3 were fitted by me) with a fine grit 3M abrasive pad, before they would fit. Also, Don specified 8mm OD, and I supplied an average of 8.02mm. At that dimension, he had to heat the hubs to get a drop in fit. A press fit, or a slight polish first are options, too. I like the thermal fit best, as it keeps the parts tightly together during use and maintenance, but won't require a lot of force to separate them if needed... and cannot alter any dimensions during assembly.

As always, if anyone is interested in these, PM me. I have a growing list of trades I would find interesting.

Just a quick comment E, I had disassemble the front hubs for a bearing replacement and they slid of easily. I used a small amount of red and sticky to keep them from sticking. I recommend these to anyone thats change hub length. I don,t know if anyone has looked into this but Ofna racing web site has several different offset for their Hyper 7. A little pricy but if yuo need a special offset they make it. Good luck in Spain with MT.

I checked the stock hubs, and they would be easy to bore, sleeve, and cut to any offset needed. $5.50 for all shown... $11 plus trade will get it done.

Do you have the Ofna part # handy... or can you tell me the different offsets they offer?

I ran across these wheels at Tower... they come in a lot of colors, and look light as heck. TowerHobbies.com | TTRPD1946-P PD1946-P Thunder Tiger 1/8 Wheel 5-Spoke 17mm Pink

Been prepping for my M/M, and I'm thinking zero scrub on 30 over axles.

I'm itching to start on T's rig, and I'm trying to get sub assemblies sorted out for when the last parts show... and I really need some help.

What is the typical or average FDR of 2.2s? What is the XRs?

I planned to dewind M's old arms (start at 45, drop 5T at a time), to get an idea of which wind motors I will end up buying. Should I bother? Is there a wind I should just buy, and live with?

And, again, what are the distances from the XR axle's centerlines to the center of the link eyes? I need to baseline all this to build mounts and finalize the transaxle configuration, and would like to make everything adjustable in useful increments (instead of swiss cheese/poke it in a hole and hope).

I not only hope to give a very patient woman something that shows real appreciation, but also give her the best shot at learning without a mechanical handicap. I cannot do it without good advice, there simply isn't time to experiment with all facets of this. I'd appreciate any input/info. TIA

Decided to use the red shocks (10mm bore, 32mm stroke), as they will be easiest to mod for longer top mounts. They show no use internally, I have no idea who made them. Does anyone?
