So, I was thinking about building a new PC, then realized all I needed was more drive space. So, instead of shelling out a couple grand, I just bought 2 new SSD's, some drive adapters, some new fans, and called it good.

Everything arrived today in the mail, two brand new SSD's, three adapters that let me put two SSD's in a single 3.5" drive bay, and two 3.5" to 5.25" adapters. Oh, and two controller cards, since I don't have any SATA ports left.

So, I unbox everything. Nothing's damaged, everything is here. I pull my machine apart (PETA is going to sue me for specicide against Dust Bunnies), put my new fans in, hooked up my fan controllers, put the drives into the adapters, fitted the adapters, ran my cables, and...

I forgot to stop by my storage unit and grab my MOLEX to SATA power adapters. Oops. :lmao: So, I had one spare SATA power cable, which is now in use, but until my storage unit opens tomorrow... Only one new drive is hooked up.

I'm just greatful that this entire install went so easy. I've been sick the last week, just worked through it, so it's nice to relax while doing PC upgrades.

I don't know how many people go to school, but our school taught us there is only one world for humans and that is earth.

I have started to work on some 4K footage and found my GEN 1 I7 is having a hard time editing the footage.
And with the new AMD prosessors out there i really wish i could update to a 8/16 core CPU instead.

But this mean new motherbord - CPU - RAM and i would like to also update my GTX 570 and 22" CRT screen to something newer.
Dunno about GFX but it done have to be top of the line, but something that could work good with a new UHD monitor would be sweet.

So would a 4K monitor, but that's just wishing my wishful thinking abut winning a little in lotto to be able to update is just a wish.

O i would also like a larger storage HDD, the SSD for OS i have

But the way i see it that will be something like 15.000 DKkr to build, and i have like 2000 Dkkr at best in my piggy bank.

And i am not upgrading on credit, i am done with that route years ago.

I'm wanting to upgrade my video card. I'm just torn on how expensive I want to go. I don't need 4K, but I want good 1080 HD gaming. My current card is an nVidia GTX 745.

Sarra, nice way to upgrade pc without buying whole new system. "thumbsup" Oh wait, you're supposed to consume, not upgrade. :lmao:"thumbsup"

Haha yeah. I might be buying a new laptop soon, but it would be multi-purpose. I'm going to need a laptop to tune my Baja when/if I get around to swapping it.

Well... I had a GTX 550TI, and after the fan on it started to die, I did the same thing I just did: Pondered a new PC, then just bought a new Video Card instead. I was looking at the 960 or 970, but the memory BS they had pushed me away. I had seriously considered an AMD card, but... In the end, I just picked up a 980 after saving a little more, and I've been really happy with it since.

Yeah, I have no credit cards, and I intend to never have any ever again. I did a Bankruptcy 4 years ago, and I have been incredibly smart with my money since then. I saved up for my Baja, I saved up for my PC, and I have tons of money in the bank for whatever emergency comes my way.

Why do you need a laptop to tune a Baja? Or is it an eBaja?

I am leaning towards the GTX 1060 in some flavor. It's a little more than what I want to spend, but I also don't want to have to upgrade in a year.

Good idea. Credit cards get lots of people in trouble. I have them for emergency use, but not for play...usually.

It's a Subaru Baja, that will be getting a 2.6l stroker STi engine in it. So, yes, it'll need a laptop to tune it. Hell, I may need to put a break in map on it just to get it running at all!

I've been looking on GPUBoss and... Price vs Performance, the 980 looks like a better card overall. Only the 1070 seems to have the specs to beat the 980. Unless you get a 980TI. Then it's pretty much a dead heat between the 1070 and 980TI.

Ah I thought you meant an HPI Baja.

The 980 is more expensive and the 980Ti is way more expensive than the 1060 I was looking at. It also appears to be a 4GB whereas the 1060 I was looking at is 6GB. I'll check out out though.

Wow. The 1060 is $220 USD on Newegg, the 980 is $400~ish.

I'd go for the 1060, TBH, in that case... For my own personal rig, I'd see no improvement going to a 1060 from a 980, but... 1070, I would for sure.

What are you using to edit video? If you're using Adobe Premiere, mod the GPU list so it enables the Mercury Playback engine, which drastically improves real-time editing effects and editing. The GTX 570 may lag with 4K though, but anything GTX 900 series and better shouldn't be too horrible. The export will still be slow but it'll be more tolerable while editing.

I am using pinnacle studio 20 ultimate.

It do support offloading to GXF card, i have set it up so it don't do much work while i mess around, so that will only really be done when i export the project.

Problem is much of my 1080 60 & 120 FPS and 4K footage is 60 mbit, but the software wont let me export in more than 40 mbit, i cant even just select to just keep the original bitrate, and that surprise me.

I expect to be making footage with 100 mbit with new cameras, so would be sad to cut that in half in post production.

Okay i am new to that software, so maybe i missed something, but i have been reading up on the internet and looking at youtube videos.
