FJ K2-3L Scale Build

Thanks for the tip on the lights, I'll see if I can't turn them without killing the decals.

I just got the rock rings on and installed the holmes brushless setup. Seems pretty good but I think I am going to have to do the servo power straight from the battery trick, it keeps glitching when I get in a high volt draw situation.
I finished the spare (finally broke down and bought another set) and was going to mount it on the rear but it looked too big so I will probably mount it in the roof rack which hopefully shows up this week so I can have it at the utrcrc scale comp.
I should be able to get some pictures tomorrow.

So utrcrc had a scale comp today that I went to. It did really well, I took third overall and might have taken 2nd if some of my scale stuff would have showed up but that doesn't matter I still had a great time. The Holmes Hobbies R2 set up worked fine, even in the snow although I was pretty worried. Here's a link to some poser pictures of the comp.

The UTRCRC guys are great and there was some really cool trucks there. Hopefully the roof rack shows up next week and other scale stuff shows up next week and I will post more pictures.

Yeah Zach, your rig did sweet..Those tires were awesome in the snow...

So I got the roof rack and I must say insanerc did a great job on this one. Very light too which I was worried about because I didn't want it to be too top heavy. Mounted it up with a shovel and the spare. More changes to come though including some metalwork that I am really excited about.

I got looking at those pictures and saw that the rack didn't show up well so here are some better pictures.

WOW!!!!

That rack looks great! I didn't even notice that you had narrowd and reduced moabs on there. Did you compete with those? I thought you used a set of narrowed Geo's?

I can't wait to see the other metal work you have planed.

Well done!

I was wondering if anyone would pick up on the narrowed reduced 1.9 Moabs. I didn't compete with those. I had some on the work bench I wasn't using to I decided to try it. This was my first time cutting down tires but I think they turned out great. They look a lot more scale with the smaller rim. They are about 1/16" shorter than the Narrowed Geolanders I had at the comp so they should work with the rules fine and they perform even better and are wider so hopefully my rig will not be so likely to roll. I don't know what it is but I have a tire mod fetish. I'm probably going to do some G Hawgs sooner or later.

Well, I'm going for it! I've got a set just sitting so what the heck :-) I've also got a set of Highlift rims that would workout great.

I love the way they look on your rig.

Your roof rack looks like it was design just for that body and looks perfect on there.

I love it!

Thanks for all of the compliments guys, I love this thing and its good to see its not just me that thinks its good. Thanks for the compliments on the rack and yes it was made for the body, I had it done custom. insanerc does them for $45 if I remember right and they are any size you want under 8"x8" Mine was 7"x5". Here's their site, they also have scale accessories. http://www.xtreme-rc-hobbies.net/scale8.html

or just buy a waterproof esc

I have a waterproof esc that works fine but with the Holmes Hobbies R2 system I wanted to waterproof the esc, I know some say the mamba 25 is waterproof but I didn't want to risk it.

The Modded Moab's look good! And the Roof Rack is a good match to the body.

How much did you have to cut out of the Moab's to fit the 1.9" wheel?
