I saw a guy build this free spooling winch on the front of his Dodge Power Wagon in the last RC Driver Crawling Mag. This looks to be really cool Option. I know of only one other Winch that has this. The Quick Sand and these are no longer made. Does anyone know how to build one of these free Spooling Winches? I would think a winch that can do this will not only be faster but less load on the servo as it will not have to work all the time to unload the line.

What issue was that? I'd love to see what he did.

It was in the Vol. 3 Issue. I was just looking at the picture a little closer it looks as if he used a servo then hooed a traxxas Max shft to it. As the servo spinns the gear get moved from the end of the shaft.

I know that guy:lmao:

that is so awesome an actually working winch. i am "hooked" this hobby is gonna break me, kill me or make me single again.

It doesn't creep at all, I'll see how long it takes to wind 1m of line in later.
But in general it's about the same speed as a 3racing winch.

i saw a video on youtube i think, make a winch and it pulled 2 truck tires and then a tractor tire stopped it. he said it was pulling about 80 some pounds. totally cool.
