Futaba 4PL Setup, Tips, Tricks & Help

ok thanks so far I am really loving the 4pl but my dad has a 4pk and I noticed those numbers on there. Thanks anyways I was just wondering if that was possible, Nick

looking to upgrade to a lipo any suggestions in size, or should I stay with the 4 AA?

Is it possible to make the 4pl show you how much mix you have engaged? Like on the 4pk when you mix there is a number that changes, is there a way to have something like that on the main screen because i dont like having to stop in a comp and pull the trigger while watching the graphs to see how much i have engaged, thanks Nick

You can see it numerically if you drive from this screen :

menu/advanced/dual esc.

It also shows you if you are in front dig,4wd or rear dig at a glance

hope that helps

This is the battery listed for the 4PL:
FUTM1473 5-Cell 1700mAh NiMH Tx Battery
& this is the 4PK:

so both use the same battery

PTK-LF-CTXF2100-2S

I use this option from time to time also!

Does anyone ever change the direction of one of their motors while driving? by having each axle spin opposite of eachother you are able to spin the truck around without hardly moving.

There are several different manufacturers you can get them from. The Futaba battery doesn't seem to be stateside yet for sone weird reason. I would say go to your favorite retailer and search "4PK Life".

Thanks "thumbsup" found one on Amainhobbies

Anyone have any ideas on how to attach some sort of strap to the 4PL? I am running 2 classes now and sometimes they are back to back. I figured out I could save alot of time and not having everyone waiting for me if I brought both cars up to the drivers stand at once. But its kind of hard to juggle a slash, a touring car, and a transmitter. I can do it, but its kinda sketchy :p

Doesn't have to be a neck strap, maybe some sort of loop I can snap to my belt or something.

Battery Update:

My wife and I have been running the protec life pack in her 4pl since I posted up about it a month ago. The pack works great! It has not needed a charge yet since completing the initial recommended cycles. You can definitely get an entire weekend of fun in on one charge.

I apologize for coming back to the theme of the 4PL update but still did not understand what you can not do if you have a version without update ,I'm sure the answer is in the post but have not seen it yet , I order a 4PL today , so I'm concerned about , thanks for the help "thumbsup"

All new radios will already have the update. The old version was just a difference of how the dig was toggled.

Today I noticed a problem with my 4PL. This seems to happen on any model for any setup.

When I turn on the radio, POSI setting under channel three is set to D100. I can turn it down to 0, which, I believe, is the default setting. It will stay at this setting, unless I turn off the radio. When I turn the radio back on, it is set back to D100. Here is a short video showing the issue:

Pardon the blurry video, I didn't realize until afterward (when I saw 50 videos of the floor) that my kid had been playing with the camera and the lens was covered in greasy fingerprints.

This error isn't really causing me any issues since I dont use channel three for any of my trucks, but I am wanting to fix the problem, none the less.

Thanks!
