Futaba 4PL Setup, Tips, Tricks & Help

Hey Harley, I got a strange issue with my 4PL. At some point recently, my transmitter is powering up with the third channel actuated. In my case, this is for my winch so unless I flip the switch to put Ch 3 in neutral, it'll power up my winch as soon as I power up the truck. But I can't figure out why it's doing this. Maybe you can help a brotha out? ;-)

Here's some images that may be helpful...

Check your switch and dial menu. Is anything else programmed to CH3? Specifically the sld1? Flip the slide on the side and see if that does it.

I'm thinking it could be the fail safe. Another simple fix, start a clean model and give it a shot.

Turns out it was sld2 that was also set to Ch3. Not sure how/why that happened, but it's fixed now.

Thanks, man! I hope Futaba realizes how much you help their customers. "thumbsup"

I couldn't really remember what number it was but figured it had to be it! Glad it was an easy one!

I hope they know too, I'd hate to lose this gig!

Tommy, one of the things I do with my PL is turn all the external switches of that I am not useing, including the trim buttons. No chance of hitting a button and screwing up a trim that way. All of the trim functions can still be acessed thru the menu if needed.

Basically my winches and 4 wheel steer are the only active switches on the scale rigs. On the comp rigs I have the bias and dig functions active.

Hello guys, I re-wired my rear motor so it's wired backwards and now the mixinig is perfect but I have one problem, when I try to lock up the front it's still in 4wd? Can any one help me out? I was trying so many things that I messed something else up! Thanks in advance! Everything else is perfect. Love the 4pl for crawling!

I just noticed the FXR's are taking about 30seconds to function and sound the startup tones.

Double check the programming on the video. Recalibrate your throttle position.

Ive tried every thing and the radio keeps applying throttle to channel 2 even when the dig is in the rear position. I wish I could do a reset on this I'm not sure what I messed up. I recalibrated each fxr sepperatly, I have perfect mixing and rear dig just no front dig. I did work as it should prior to reversing the rear motor wires. This is in a xr10 by the way.

Something is not like I have it in the video. Like I said, go back and match every screen word for word.

You can go to the model and do a model reset if you want to start over.

Cool! I thought I was doing a re-set but I had to look over the instructions closer! Thanks for your quick responses Harley! You are the Master! Now I just hope it's not raining tomorrow so I can play!

Thank you in advance.

This has been covered many time a but I'll reinforce it again. DITCH THE M2. The Futaba will do what the M2 is trying to do. It is a very unreliable and troublesome ESC. I really can't help you much with the setup, none seem to work the same or work correctly. I would suggest the M2 thread for more specific info. I will help you program whatever buttons you need but for more specific setup info I can't help you.

I am sorry if it has been said but I asked again because i am hurry.

I will do my question on a topic about m2 dig.

Do you believe that m2 dig is useless? I ask you because i bought it new 130$.

Thank you.

I would get rid of it.
+1. I had one that was part of a used XR-10 I bought. I tried a number of things but was never happy with:
-Lack of drag brake
-Proportional wasn't great
-Couldn't use the programming cable
-Everytime you recalibrated the ESC to the RX, all the other ESC settings went back to factory default, meaning I had to count button pushes and LED flashes....yet again....

I sold it to a club member since he had one and wanted a working spare.

I replaced it with 2 new CC Sidewinder micros."thumbsup""thumbsup" Now the rig & I are happy.8)
