GM announces a new Chevrolet SS..

Chevrolet announced the return of a V-8 powered, rear-wheel-drive performance sedan to the U.S. lineup, the Chevrolet SS. The SS will also be Chevrolet’s next NASCAR Sprint Cup racecar and will debut in its race configuration at the 2013 Daytona 500. The limited production version of the Chevrolet SS will be a 2014 model and will arrive in dealer showrooms in late 2013. It is the first time in 17 years that Chevrolet will offer a rear-wheel-drive sedan for sale in the United States.(Team Chevy PR)(5-17-2012)

it made me remember this Chevrolet "SS" concept they came out with in 2003. i doubt there connected but barf.

Chevy is bringing back the Caprice which will be a v8 rwd, wonder if that was it.

Somebody at Model Car Magazine mentioned that it's going to be another Holden Monero variant like the G8 and GTO were. The Caprice is an upsized version of the Monaro IIRC, just not sure what model it was rebadged from.

I bet it'll be based off the commodore/G8/etc... I loved the G8, would have gotten one if the timing of things would have been different. Hopefully this looks just as good, I'm due for a new daily driver soon.

I seem to remember reading someplace (think it was Model Cars Mag's corum there too).that the guy who penned the SS Concept Car is the father of the guy that penned the Mazda RX-8

It was just announced on the news driving to work this morning.

Funny thing is our Holden engine comes from The US market and now it's going back to the States in our car.

Yup its kind of sad...like this is news. Its a Holden Commodore, not that that's a bad thing, but they made it sound like it was the next great idea they have internally.

The Caprice is replacing the Pontiac G8 and they are starting them for the Law but soon be for civilians.

I have quite a few friends and family members in law enforcement, every one of them will tell you that they all like the Crown Vics over anything else they have ever used as a cruiser, even when the Caprices were around. It's a shame that the folks who have to use the vehicles on a daily basis have no say in what gets purchased for them.

The guys around here really love the Chargers. They look badass (the locals are all black), and nobody tries to outrun the Deputies or Troopers anymore.

RX8 is also one of the absolute worst ideas ever! What a steaming pile of crap. Hey, lets take a sports coupe and throw on an extra half door :roll:. That'll look really spiffy! What an ugly, confused car.
Now Chevy is going to make something along the same terribly ugly lines??

WTF? We paid to bail them out, now they send our manufacturing overseas??? Who the hell wants a chinese cadillac???? WTF???
