GM announces a new Chevrolet SS..

RigRocker, Did you not read the part where that was a concept car from 2003. Probably nothing at all like the new SS that, as far as I know, hasn't been revealed yet.

I wanted to get a G8, but since Pontiac got s*canned still rolling in my Grand Prix. Driven a Pontiac for so long going to really hate the next dash I have to look at. Pontiac was the only one that ran all red dash.

This doesn't look to bad, nothing like the concept SS.

I am a Die-Hard chevy musclecar fan, and that concept picture just threw me into a frenzy.

That pic doesn't look so bad. Nothing that should ever have a Super Sport badge on it though.

I think the new guys at GM have forgotten what SS means.......

GM had their heads up their butts when they did this too:

The Caprice is available as a PPV only. (Police Personel Vehicle) The SS will be coming out as basically the same car, but labeled as a SS. I think its more or less meant to compete with the 300, and maybe a few foreign cars too. We've been getting a few guys that want to buy a Caprice from us, but according to restrictions set into place by GM we are only allowed to seel one to a ACTIVE duty police/sheriffs dept. not the individuals who are in law enforcement.

That blue pic, may as well be our Holden Commodore boys, few subtle differences, google HSV - Holden Special Vehicles. They do upmarket musceluar versions.

I hope Chevy don't screw up the roof line, thats probably my favorite part

The Caprice is replacing the Pontiac G8 and they are starting them for the Law but soon be for civilians.

The new Caprice will never be sold to Civilians until such time that they are sold by the police, though the automakers are trying to stop that. I'm all for cops having their own more distinct cars...easier for me to spot.

Actually the chassis is not even the same. The Caprice is completely built for PPV use only, which means lots of changes from what the SS will come over as.

Hopefully unlike the GTO and G8 GM doesn't just bring in Commodores and add on 3-8 panels. GM really needs to focus on making cars lighter, it's killing them in performance quite a bit.

What the big three ought to do...in all seriousness...stop making sedans and compacts and coups. Concentrate on trucks and cop cars, maybe add a hotrod or two to their lineup and leave it at that.

Let the Europeans and Asians build the cars for every day use.

You take the 66 4 door. I'll take the Super Sport "thumbsup"

And those 90's Caprice Super Sports we're the only 4 door car that could get away with wearing an SS badge. I don't understand why all these youngsters want to drive around in decommissioned cop cars anyway. I guess they feel pretty cool riding up front instead of cuffed in the back! LOL 8)

The Pontiac G8 sedans and utilites that were 'supposed' to go to the States but got held back when the GFC hit eventually sold in Australia at about 60-65% of retail of the nearest Aussie homologation, ie $40K.

They look pretty schmick too....

All are based on the VE platform, I have the ClubSport R8, w/- the 6L LS2 V8 (366ci) and 311kW, 417HP....

Work is just an excuse to drive...
