Grand Junction Winter/Spring Series

Was talkin to andy today and none ya have paid up, only 3 people (well 7 after i left). I sent a text out to everyone, maybe not everyone reads, so pass the word along, $25 to andy @ high desert by the first, we need at least 14 people to squeeze by insurance.

Here's the directions to the next comp.

From I-70 take exit 46 Cameo, travel West for 2.3 miles and you're there. You will drive past the powerplant and private property to get to the site.
BTW that will be at 10am for the start.

Also it looks like a few of us will be at High Desert tomorrow night at 6.

So how'd high desert turn out today?

Also gary, you know where i live, how far, timewise, is the cameo spot from the 38 3/4 and the highway intersection. 10-15 minutes or is it farther out?

Always allow yourself time for the unexpected.

Sorry I have not timed how long it takes from 38.75 Rd to Cameo. We all had fun last night."thumbsup"

I've never driven to cameo so I'm not sure how much time I need to give myself.

did you guys get snow?, is that site gonna be a mess this weekend? we are getting snow right now, just wondering as i have the rig together and i am planning on coming but not really psyched about a mud fest

Mud should not be near the issue as it was at 27 1/4 Rd. I plan on going out Friday afternoon(sometime between 1 and 2) again to do some prep work on the site. 42* is the forecasted high for GJ on Saturday.

So much for no snow huh, right now about 2-3in at my house, i'm sure its just as bad if not worse in cameo.

yea well 16 plus inches and still snowing here tonight, so i will assume to make other plans then
i know high desert has a little course but why not find some other indoor places to run in these off months when weather can shut things down? i'm sure someone has a little space to let you guys set up some courses once in a while, i know a couple of guys with decent size shops in gj i could ask and see what they think, they are into 1/1 crawling as well so i could see them being into this, it would be good marketing for them, just a thought, sux when weather dictates go or no this time of year, oh well i guess i'll just have to ski some more powder, this was probably the best day all season...so far, can you guys say face shots?( and no, not those kind):flipoff:

As long as its not raining while were crawling, were going to go crawling"thumbsup" we had a huge mud puddle we was swimming in last comp. and i guess, according to above, its mostly sand so mud shouldn't be an issue.

For clarification....mud shouldn't be an issue for the courses, your shoes are a different matter. Mr. Tucker said he may go out this pm and do some sweeping and I will definitely be out there Friday to clean more. If I can get my generator in the back of my truck I'll even fire up the leaf blower. Remember last May when we were at Bentonite? It snowed!!! If on the off chance someone can find a shop that's willing to donate at least a 30'x15' area, I would be more than happy to provide some rock and do some stucco work.

mud washes off boys and girls...so bring your boots and lets get ready to rumble and quit crying its febuary

Hey course designers, gary, we doing 3 or 4 courses, i'm debating 6s right now, wheel speed is the name of the game in the mud.

Also i'll give everyone a day to ponder. At the comp we will vote on how we want to do fees this year. Heres the options

Do entry fees, ($5 BLM, $5 all classes except youth, $2.50 youth class (looking into cheaper options))
-have club donated prizes and trophies at the end pf the year
OR
-Do cash pay out to top 3 players in each class

No entry Fees (Must stay under 25 people)
-No prizes will be donated, just a white elephant, where everyone brings something. ($50-100 value, considering the 100+ you would have spent on fees)
-Fundraising for trophies (Shirts???25 at $15 each will pay for trophies) Trophies will be $120 for 15, engraved crawler stands...

We will be taking a vote on this at the comp, so this will give you some time to ponder, You guys got like 36 hours, i sure hope its enough for you to make up your mind.

Sorry I had to leave so soon. But work is just way to busy right now. Thanks for letting come out for a couple hours though. It was nice to see everyone.

Here are some pictures that I was able to take while I was there.

Here's the result, it took me a while to get the computer to do the tie breakers right. Had to go to the second round to break the tie in 1.9's

There's a pdf here http://gvcc.home.bresnan.net/event2.pdf if you want a nicer looking copy.
