Greatest metal band ever???????

What defines greatest? If it is most popular, best selling, longest running, metal, not just rock, I would think Metallica. I could be wrong and I know everyone says they sold out, but music is a business after all.

Jethro Tull. Hey, they beat out Metalica at heavy metal hall of fame one year. Any metal band that's got a flute player is boss in my book.:ror:
That's funny.....Jethro Tull is one of my favorite bands of all time.....I've seen them quite a few times now.

I actually just like their name.:mrgreen:

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

black sabbath, metallica ride the lightning, judas priest , slayer south of heaven, seasons in the abyss...and tool"thumbsup"

They started METAL, you dumn ass. That was almost 40 years ago whilste you were a "dreamed" trickle oozing from your gramma's panties.:shock: Fawking children.:lmao::lmao::lmao:
:roll: Fawk, why stop there.....Elvis started it. :roll:

Reading the drivel that spills from your mouth, yet I'm the child? :roll:

Your right. It was a stupid comment and I retract. I'll right it off to the rare mood I experienced last night. As a general rule, I try not to flame people.:oops:

However, I still believe you are incorrect about Led Zeppelin.

Another older group to throw into this mix is Iron Butterfly. "Ina Gada Da Vida" (sp?) is a classic, original metal hit. In those days (mid 60s), we did not call it metal...at least not until Led Zep hit the seen.

I can agree with the fact that Led Zepplin influenced many different bands....including those metal bands of today. However, I still do not believe them to be a metal band.....certainly not the "greatest metal band ever"....

Yes, I still own quite a few LZ records.....even the Iron Butterfly record you refer to (gotta love one song on side A and about 4 on the other side), but again, I don't think they are metal. Both are great rock bands....
