GT3B Hack Question and Answer Thread

The actual chrome rocker that pushes the microswitches broke. There are two tabs one for each micro and the one for the front trim cracked. A little CA and it's as good as new. I did switch it to the D/R rev for good measure. I guess I need to stop digging so hard:mrgreen:

Kind of hard to get a good shot of it.

Or should I just put my ESC on channel 3 since I really dont need trim for that and put my rear steer on channle 2 so I have trim settings to center the servo? or is there a way to save my left/center/right values on the 3 pos switch when im driving because like I said it will work for two cycles through and then just zero out? Thanks Newbie Dan

There is trim for ch3, but its the sub trim not trim...Anyways just press and hold enter (about 1-2 second) when selecting trim. This will take you to the sub trim menu.

Make sure your step rate is 100. To get end points adjust your epa

well first, trims have NO effect once in dig mode on those channels

Second, why not just re calibrate esc's?

Well I figured it out. "thumbsup" I did have to "recalibrate" my ESCs. Everytime you turn them on they find neutral but with the sub trims set to thier limits there was no more adjustment left and that screwed up thier auto neutral. With the sub trims set to 0 and the power cycled they are balanced again or at least close. The sub trims do set the balance on the mixed channels, to perfectly align them, my ESCs just try and adjust it out.

All is well again and the glue fix seems to be holding up. Time will tell.

Hi Losikid,

I'm having a problem calibrating my AE-2 esc to the Flysky GT3B. I do get lights and steering but esc still blinks green, red and beeps. I have a cc bec on 2s. It works fine with the stock axial radio and receiver. I've tried everything in the manuel but still no luck. I'm also using this radio on another rc, works good.

Thanks

the bearings and VRs showed up today "thumbsup"
Ill crack both radios open and start the upgrades when my stomach isnt going crazy :x ughh

Did you calibrate the esc to it?

Right after you power up the rc, pull trigger (green lights should blink) once it beeps push trigger to full reverse (red lights should flash) once it beeps let off to center/neutral. It should be beep again then after a second or so it should do the startup jingle.

Not to imply you don't know what you are doing but maybe you aren't calibrating it right?
Axial AE-2 ESC Set-up and Programming

After trying everything, my channel 2 isn't working on the receiver. I plugged in the esc to ch1 and it worked.
I guess I need a new receiver, good thing they are cheap.

Thanks guy's for all the help. Hopefully no more problems when I get the new receiver.

At least you figured out what the issue is.8)

flashed the 2nd GT3B tonight. I cant believe how much quicker and easier it is now that the virtual XP is sorted.
also installed both VR's and set the low voltage alarm to 6.2
I have a pair of 2S 1300mahs that should work well.
Once I pick up a 12mm reamer from the LHS I'll install the bearings.

so to recap...
2 GT3B's about $65
firmware flasher, X2 VR's & bearing mods $63.25.
total under $130 for 2 hacked and upgraded radios
Making your spektrum & futaba friends jealous because you have 2 radios that can do more for 1/2 to a 1/4 what they paid....priceless 8)

Set the alarm to 6.5. Anything below that the vr won't output 5 volts so the voltage reading will be inaccurate on the radio and your controls will go out of calibration settings because the pots will see less than the 5 volts. Only downfall of using 2s...
