GT3B Hack Question and Answer Thread

Have you figured this out? I also have a gt3b that i just hacked with the 0.6.1 firmware. but i can only adjust the end points to the right. The tx works to steer the truck left but i cannot get the arrow on the screen to point left when i turn the wheel c.c. in the endpoint menu... why? Its driving me nutz:twisted: everything worked before i did the hack. I have recalibrated the tx and tried everything i can think of.
Yes I figured it out, or Losikid did. He sent me an email with instructions on how to recalibrate. If you pm me your email I'll forward you the email with the instructions.

Measure the voltage of your battery
Power up
Press ENTER-LONG
Scroll to r, press enter
scroll to G_Y, press ENTER-LONG
press ENTER-LONG
Scroll to "LOW POWER!!!", press enter
Scroll to 3.0v, press and hold enter
Turn wheel max clockwise, press and hold enter
While steering wheel is at neutral, press enter
Turn wheel max clockwise, let the numbers settle, press enter
Turn wheel max counterclockwise, let the numbers settle, press enter
Scroll the scroll wheel so 2 is showing on the seven segment
While trigger is at neutral and settled, press enter
Pull trigger to max, let numbers settle, press enter
Push trigger to max, let numbers settle, press enter
Scroll to "4" press enter.
Change it to the value you measured at the beginning. press enter
Press ENTER-LONG
Now scroll to E.POINT, press enter
Scroll to 1 press enter,
Turn the steering wheel fully clockwise slowly, then turn it fully counter clockwise slowly.

Thank you Sapes! i thought i tried everything. i even thought i recalibrated the tx, but the steps i took to do it the 1st time were different. these tx's are awesome but sometimes getting them setup and programed can be a puzzle.
 
No problem. Glad I could help, alI though it's all Losikid work. Great guy. Took the time to solve my problem. I know how you feel. I was so discouraged when it wasn't working but overjoyed once it was working properly. Great radio.


P.S it would be a good idea if a mod started a sticky on electronics for this radio with instructions how to set up things ie dig, 4 wheel steer, recalibration and so on. It's really difficult to sift through all the pages to find the info one is looking for. The thread has enough traffic to warrant a sticky. Granted someone would have to invest in setting it up, and I'm not about too. I think it would help cut down repeat questions (Losikid wouldn't have to answer the same questions over and over) and it would be used very often.

There are anyone that use this firmware to shift gear in Tamiya F350 High Lift ?
I need help to do this configuration. "thumbsup"

If you google ( hacked flysky gt3b 3rd channel ) theres a video that shows you how to set up the 3rd channel for a 3 position switch. that should get a servo to shift gears for you if you only use 2 of the 3 positions. Im sure theres a better way to do it, but it should work.

Next i have 2 Question

1- i have gt3-c and I calibrate the battery with voltare i read with voltmeter (4.1) but when i set the radio still beeping "low voltage" any suggestion? I wish also change the standard battery for a more capacity lipo.. Any idea for this hack?

2- i setup 3ch trim for witch and it work.. Next i need to setup a 3 position switch for my tamiya tranny 3 gear shift. I found the video and the guys use the 3ch trim (or i think dr is the same) but.. Is possibile to set it up on the 3ch button, just a setup for rotation Chanel

Start from position - 100 press go to 0 press go to +100 press go to 0 and - 100 again...

After that.. If is possibile where i can adjust the travel and trim of this 3pos switch (also for d/r or 3ch trim switch)

Ok, I think I just got all my emails and messages replied to. Also I got all current orders in boxes and labels printed. They should find the post office sometime tomorrow.

I can't wait till I get solidworks up and running again. I've been brainstorming up a new mod that'll give the GT3C a competitive edge over any other radio for auxiliary channel or mixing control.

It'll require some bolt/solder in hardware additions and a heavily modded firmware.


I've been wanting to do something like this for a long time. Because it absolutely awesome. I rocked a similar mod on my OG stick radio conversions into a TQ2 pistol. But to do something similar in the flyskys would have required extensive hardware and firmware modifications. I can handle the firmware on my end, but It would of been too much to expect the customer todo the extensive hardware mods.


Basically, I want to put the power of a stick radio into the GT3C...while not losing any of its current capabilities. Thats right, maintain every aspect of the current radio, add more functions into the radio, AND add in the power of sticks without any major modding. Just bolt in a new module, flash a new firmware, and MAYBE solder some wires onto the main board. Might be bolt, plug, flash, and play.

I just need to get my desktop up and running again and install solidworks to do some modeling to make sure I can get everything to fit (and get prototypes made up). I've sourced all the major electrical components tonight. Now I need to design all the hardware (micro return to center mechanisms)

Wow! That is an impressive build all shoved into that case. You have to be using new guts though right? I can't imagine you modded a dx3e to do all that.

One radio is flashed and charging up now, I didn't measure the voltage despite being told multiple times too so I figure a full charge and then set it to 4.1 should work alright and give me a little headroom as it should charge to 4.2 :)

Thanks Losi, just need to wire in my holmes, flash my second radio and I'll be off to the races.

One question, are the newer orange gt3c shipping with a corrected switch or can I expect it to crap out on me soon?

I rammed two DX3E's into one case.

The GT3C batteries have built in discharge protection. The battery voltage display and low voltage warning is so you have warning before the battery just disconnects from the radio. You won't harm any part of the radio by over discharging. But may get unexpected shut off if cal'd wrong

As long as it's new stock, the power switch issue should be fixed.
