Can I please have one pagan holiday to enjoy without having to be reminded of Jesus?

Please?

I don't get my kid dressed up and take him door to door to collect Christian literature and propaganda. He's not all excited because he's looking forward to a bucket full of pamphlets about how he's going to hell if he doesn't change his ways. He wants to run around, have fun, and get some damn candy. Is that so hard to comply with?

How many holidays have to be overrun by Christians? Whats next, are they going to take over Arbor Day because Jesus's cross was made from a tree?

Can we get a like button, please?

Personally, I have never experienced this. But, when I do have lil' 'krawls, if those religious wingnuts want to try and brainwash my little one(s) it won't end well.

This is coming from the guy that hardly speaks to his grandparents because they are those "religous wingnuts". I just can't do it.

I disagree majorly as I am a Christian. We do not brainwash people or go door to door. Yes there are some extreamist who give out nothing but "I heart Jesus" flyers, but not all are that way. Brainwashing your kids is not showing them Christ, but the oposite. Not teaching your kids about Christ is, in my opinion, just as bad as brainwashing them. Flame me if you wish, but I stand firm and grounded in what I believe and I will stick up for it no matter what.

I delt with this in Mesa, fawking whack jobs dropping mini-bibles in the kid's buckets. Pisses me off... Especially since I've seen Christmas displays since the 2nd weeks of October.

 These holidays you don't like are religous holidays

You could always not celebrate them and stick with Martin Luther King Day and maybee Earth Day "thumbsup"

Of course not all Christians are that way, and no one is concerned nor talking about those that aren't.

I choose not to believe in Christ. I have that right. I also have the right to withold religion from my child untill he is old enough to contemplate the matter for himself. That is not brainwashing, that is keeping something that his little head can't properly comprehend out of his life until he is more prepared for it.

I think an awesome solution to this would be to pull the book out of the bucket immediately and ask your kid "do you want this book?" Chances are they'll say no right away because it ain't edible and you can hand it back to whoever gave it to you.

Or crap in it and leave it on the door step. TRICK or treat right? :lmao:

I agree dude. We should all be able to have the chance to chose what works best for us at some point in our lives. But I think the way you raise your kids is very crucial. Personally, with how influential kids CAN(not always) be, I feel they should be allowed to be kids until they are old enough to make their own decisions wisely.

Grant it, I always look for the positive in situations, and it looks like the folks were concerned about your kids soul. Which is a nice thought. But at the same time, it can be either intended as, or taken as pushy. Unfortunately, with the varieties of lifestyles these days.. seems like there is always going to be an issue.

I try my best to just be polite, and give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Not a fan of religion in general, and have had bad luck with some Christian GF's, but hold nothing against peoples beliefs. But if it were me, I would just look at the bright side and move on. Dont get me wrong, I have had several intense conversations about religion. But is your time and frustration, worth something you don't even care for in the first place?

Bibles on Haloween... Messed up? Yeah. That's like sock and pencils on atheist Christmas(although I have my own pro christian beliefs on christmas)

Point with religion in general, is that no matter how much we bitch... nothing will change. More people have died for religion than in war. So I don't get involved, because I have been told that I can be extremely offensive :flipoff:

I would still consider pitching a loaf on the doorstep of someone of a pushy and stubborn faith, but realize I have better things to do. Like have pre-marital sex, download music, and play with RC trucks

No rant from me, just trying to easy all the tension, how about all the ****ty costumes the women get into for halloween, I saw a few this year, one down the street from my house, oh she was a sexy witch.

Anyway, carry on.

Oh yeah, any good pics from halloween are appreciated.

I too was of the force-fed group...where my dad was a pastor, I went to private school, had to go to church and sunday school every sunday followed by service in the evening, and top that off with wednesday night service. As a child, I was told alot about how I would go to hell if I did not do as the bible told. Using fear on a child? Very mature.

My thoughts about halloween....halloween has NOTHING to do with Christianity...and the idiot religious that want to hand out bibles instead of candy should be dealt with. Halloween was originally of ungodly practices....so what. It has nothing to do with those things anymore. It is about pumpkins, kids, candy, and 20 to 35 year old girls dressing up like hookers.

I agree man, but my one Q is this...
Where the houses you were visiting conforming to the standard that if you have the porch light on you are "participating" and if it's off you aren't? (not saying that you don't know that just getting clarification)
If the houses that were dropping the "Holly word" on ya had their lights on like everyone else than I am 100% behind ya because that is BS...you don't advertise your participation then try and shove your beliefs on someone else...let alone someone's children. On the other hand if you were just rollin up to peoples houses regardless than those people that don't believe in this "holiday" thought that was a good solution for the ones who were not taking the hint (again not saying you were just an example)

I see your point about both sides doing what they see fit is just as "wrong" (depending on perspective). But the difference for me is that a lot of people I know that are not "Christians" don't teach their children to "not" believe in God, rather they let them come with questions or concerns when the child begins to think about that for themselves (now I bet there are some that teach kids to not have anything to do with Christianity which is also wrong, everyone has the right to choose). Where as all "Christians" teach their children from a very young age who and what they are "supposed" to believe in. Seems to me that one sounds more like mental control than the other...

Duuuuuude.......next year, when this same thing happens again (and you know it will), just take the pamphlet, turn around and yell to your wife "honey, mark this house off the list!" You can also politely remind them that this is the day that we celebrate Samhain!

BTW, at our comp this past saturday we had some kook show up and give us some BS pamphlets that looked like money....I guess we looked like we needed to be saved!

Actually, I was thinking I could light it on fire, drop it in the driveway, strip down to my undies, and dance around the flames with my hands raised to the sky yelling "Hail Satan! Hail Satan!". :ror:
