Halloween rant...

Duuuuuuuude is correct, now where does it direct Christians to kill non Christians. In fact Jesus whom Christianity is based on rejects that kind of behavior. Let not forget "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" which was in response to Jewish Religious Leaders who wanted to stone to death a woman who had committed adultery. According to Jewish law that is what was required however Jesus firmly and un-apologetically rejected Jewish law at every turn. The fact he was trying to push through to people is that Christianity is about you and God, nothing else, nothing more. Many things are a byproduct of that relationship however it does not work in reverse. You can go to church every day however that does not mean you have a relationship with God.
Just as many "religious" people misinterpret Jesus as do those who do not believe if not more. In fact Churches are full of those doing things that have zero to do with Jesus.
Back to the main theme of the original post though, I do not agree with those who hand out the pamphlets instead of candy, I just don't care. The people coming to my door are a different matter because they come to my house with such arrogance that they can "save" me and have the audacity to question my faith. I don't question anyone's faith because that is not my job.
I have been through the bullhorn routine as well, at almost every metal concert I ever attended. In fact one of my favorite stories comes from a guy in Vegas who ministers to the porn community.
He tells of a man at the porn convention outside handing out fliers and informing the people coming in that Jesus hates porn stars and that everyone in there is going to hell. Way to catch flies huh? So the other pastor who is telling the story is watching this guy before he goes to his booth inside (yes he sets up a booth inside the porn convention to offer Jesus' love to everyone, he does not condemn the people however). So a porn actress upon passing the bullhorn guy looks at him and says "I thought Jesus loved everyone". Pretty sad when the porn actress knew more about Jesus than the supposed Christian with the bullhorn.

Its funny when you say that. Its like saying "Hey man, its cool. I've got black/mexican/oriental/middle eastern freinds". :ror:
There are many reasons why I've taken an interest in theology, though drinking the kool-aid is not among them.
You never know what side of the fence I'll be standing on. I could be defending Christianity as easily as I could be slamming it. The truth is more interesting that speculation and poorly defended "facts".

Sounds like a Lutheran Preacher in the little town Mom grew up in, in Rural Iowa. One year the local High School decided to have their prom in a local night club, which infuriated him to no end. He acutally got up on his pulpit and claimed he was going to sit out in front of that night club to not only make sure that none of the children from his church were going to that prom, and that those that did were going straight to hell! He was also the type that would wander the town of 400 making sure that none of his parishioners were doing anything bad on Saturday nights..........he also would leave the church un-locked, so one of Mom's friends and her first husband would sneak in there and make out:roll:
