Well I might have enough to warrant a post on this project. I wimped out on the tube chassis designs and went with a simple Hendrix X-Chassis(Formula toy) design. Maybe when my skills catch up I can go on to some asymmetrical 1-seaters. The rundown is Cliff climber axles, fast motors(DTX VR3 maybe), 3-link+panhard suspension, and maybe 1/8 buggy tires and wheels. Not real definite on the tires though. Wheelbase is 12" now but due to some difference in the scaling I'll be adding 1/4" to the links all around bringing it to 12.5". I'll be adding more tubework but got enough to get an idea of what it will look like.

Thanks guys, maybe if it warms up next week I can do some more. Thinking of doing an FJ40 style grill on it. By the way, check out www.hendrixmotorsports.com if you've never heard of the X-chassis or Formula Toyotas.

Might be what they are, I don't know. I saw them on clearance at lowes one day, 30-36" long ladder shaped and stainless for 30 cents each. So I grabbed a bunch up. They're about 3/16" so you can add more tubes without adding weight. The flip side is you have to add more tubes to make it as strong as larger diameter stuff, such as the brakeline most people use.

It's scale rebar,duh.

What all hardcore 1:1 builders use. DOM, ha. Chromoly, amateurs. Reedbar is where it's at.

Actually, the sticker says "1 5/8x36" SS Panel Reinforcing" so I'm guessing that means stainless steel. Calipers say .150" diameter, so smaller than 3/16".

Thanks, this weather has halted progress on this. It's just too cold to work on it. I can't work in gloves. I did get the rear panhard mounts made. I mocked it up with a stock CC link but needs to be slightly shorter. Here's a couple pics, still trying to figure out a good upper shock mount position.

Thanks guys. The rock hard pede tires are just there to be there. Too wide and just a bit too tall. I'll be running stock CC tires till I get something better. I was thinking some 1.9 flatirons but they may be too small. Maybe the new 4wd Slash tires?

Nope, it's cold and I've been messing with some other projects. I'm also terribly slow at building, sorry, haha.
