HH Servo

Call his office line ask for Jonathan. If he isn't there leave a message they will usually call ba k same day. When mine made the motor sound but didn't turn the top gear broke. The next issue I had was the pin that holds the gears broke so the gears were floating around inside.

Jonathan had to take yesterday off, he will get back to you Monday. It is probably a broke pin if you have the steel gears. Next weakest link now that we got the gears solid. For a quick fix, a wire drill can be used but I'm not at the office where we have the size recorded.

I talked to them in email and got a new set of gears. Now I understand. It is broken pins. Looks like 2 of them... One off the gear that the spline is on as well.

got the new gears/pins in and now it turns but when you power it on it keeps turning back and forth without any steering input. The Protek I'm using while waiting for this to be fixed is working just fine so it's not my setup...

I think we are taking about the same one. If you were making a servo winch you would remove that pin or Dowell. I may be very wrong but, when I change my gears I always mark the case with a sharpie and on Ressembly I align the mark and the pin. I hope that helps you

Also on my hh servo. If it's twitching back and forth rapidly you should check with Jonathan again. These are amazing servos just you and I got ones with bugs. But Holmes hobbies will stand behind it fully. Give Jonathan a ring and he can tell you. I've sent mine in a few times also.

My HH servo had two gear failures and then began the jittering and lack of centering others here are describing.
Jonathan told me to put contact cleaner down into the potentiometer. Didn't work.
The replacement gears they provided.
Eventually they refunded my money entirely.

IMO the output gear is far too tiny and cannot handle the stress this servo dishes out.
Am now running a $24 Solar D772 with 350oz/in and couldn't be happier.

I have a question that I hope isn't too ignorant. I have a version 2 HH servo in my 2.2 scaler. When manually turning the horn with no power, the servo has quite a bit of travel, maybe 120* total (not exact, obviously). When powered on and running with both endpoints set at 120% on my 4pls, the servo only moves about 90* total. I'm curious why the difference? I realize that the larger movement when unpowered only stops due to the pin in the output gear that mechanically stops the servo. In most of my other servos, the movement allowed by the mechanical stop is really close to what the servo uses under power.

I noticed the same thing on mine and wondered why. I also talked to Holmes again and have to send mine in for replacement...

Bummed out. My just took a crap on me today. When I power up the truck the servo wiggles side to side then stops working. Anyone have any input to way it's doing this. Only ran a couple packs through it.

Did you snap the pins on the gears? Mine did the same thing. Snapped the pins but the motor kept running. They replaced the servo for me haven't ran my replacement yet though.
