John, any word on the 7T Pullers? I really want one!

Also that new ESC looks to be dialed, probably need one of them too!

The MMM 2200 system all the way. I am not familiar with the battery tray or layout, that will determine the battery shape. 5ah 25c 4 to 6 cell pack.

Is the 2200 as fast as the 2650 or how does that work out? Also when will you have more of the 2200 combos back in stock? As for the conversion I am gonna use Team Associated's brushless conversion kit that they have.I don't know if you are fimilar with it or not to figure out if you have a battery that would do the trick.I want this Monster GT to push 70mph if possible. Thanks JRH for all the help."thumbsup"

John, is there any possibility that your nasty little Mini Torque Master is causing the Tekin FX-R to tweak out in my Losi MRC? I seem to recall a post about the early batches having an issue with hung brushes?

I sent the FX-R in to Tekin tech and was told that it's solid. After re-install, it's doing the same thing as previous. When I fire up my crawler the FX-R chimes and LED's cycle, but I have no throttle input. Steering functions, but it's glitchy.

Shut down, turn it on again, and now no chimes, LED's still cycle as throttle is applied but there's no throttle input at all.

Calibrated my 3R, made all the settings with the Hot Wire and still nothing.

I've heard from Ty at Tekin, and I'm going to try the stock Losi motor to see if anything changes, but I thought I'd ask you in the mean time.

Other components are a Losi 2 cell 600 mAH Lipo, Hi Tec 5245MG, and an SR3500 micro Rx.

Thanks.

Greetings John. I spoke with Ty at Tekin last week regarding this issue...his thought was that the motor was hanging up and causing the FX-R to not respond.

After wiring up my stock MRC motor and having it function flawlessly on the FX-R, it would appear that I'm in need of some updated brushes fo my Torque Master Mini.

I had sent an e-mail a few days ago as well. Don't know if they're on the way yet, but if not, I also just ordererd two 2S 1300 Lipos yesterday if you want to add them to that order.

Any break in suggestions for the new brushes? Thanks for your time "thumbsup"

I'm having the same problem with my mini. I took the motor apart and cleaned everything it worked fine for about 10 minutes and starting hanging up again. :-(

The 2650 is faster than the 2200. I am waiting for the 2200 motors right now, castle is behind. I am not familiar with AEs conversions. 70mph, you will want the 2200 motor and a fatty 6s lipo.

Normal break in procedure for the brushes, about 3 minutes at 2 or 3v does the trick. Have you gotten an email back yet? I didn't see one float by me from you.

Send an email to me with your problem. Seems as though a few motors got by me with this issue. I test them all out before shipping, but sometimes they act up after a while.

I will be shipping all future TM mini motors with the aftermarket brushes included, just in case.

Hey I am looking for the complete setup for my crawler, I just put an order in for the RC4WD bully axles that I believe are around 40:1 or so and I am debating on what to run for the motors, I like the crawlmaster for its size it looks like it will fit nicely with this set up. I am running a 2cel 7.4V 2000 mah. I like having good wheel speed and good low range control as well. Can you send me in the right direction as to running either your crawlmaster or the revolver? Also what would be a good start as to the pinion count? Also need the perfect speed control to run with this combo as well. Thanks Dave

Thanks for that info, and no, I haven't seen an e-mail back yet. I sent the original message on March 25th. I'll send you another right now, as well as a copy of the first one. Thank you John.

LIPO Charging ?

I have 2 and 3 cell lipo battery packs.

Is it best to always balance charge the packs?

I have been told that it is better to only balance charge the 2 cell pack every ten charge cycle, and to balance charge the 3 cell every time. It this correct? Or is it better to balance charge every time regardless if it is a 2 cell or a 3 cell?

Thanks for the help and info. I know that if anyone knows this you would.

Motor comparison

John, I am about to purchase a new motor for my comp MRC, and I want a comparison of your mini Torque Master and the Trinity Cobalt 16t Mod motor. I know the Trinity is a bit more expensive, but what rpms, tourqe....

John, I see everyone bugging you for dates on your esc and 7t's. Im building my first crawler and want to power it with your esc and a 7t. I dont want to bug you for dates, but Id like to get it running before May. What are the chances of the stuff being available?

Thanks
Patrick Scott

john. i have a cc 5700 motor that will not work any longer. i went you an email and didn't hear back. it will just twitch. i tried another motor and that one works so the esc is still good. what happened? when it started doing this it was all of the sudden. does castle do any warranty on these? its not that old. thanks!!

I want to go from nimh to lipo. I was wonder how you can compare a 7cell nihm 8.4v to a 2 cell lipo 7.4v to each other. My nihm are 2700mah. I was looking at a 1450mah 2 cell lipo. will the get better run time with that lipo? Is there a advantage to switching if i can only use 2 cell. Its rooster crawler edition esc.

Motor/ESC ?

Not sure if this is where this question belongs, but seems as good as any other place.

Hi John,

I recently received a HH Cobalt 7T motor as a gift. I dont know much about this motor other than it is considered the best crawler motor. I saw the video of the Rock Racer and am impressed by this motor. My question to you is what ESC and battery setup do you recommned for this motor? Also, should I change the gearing set up on my crawler. I have an Axial RTR with the 87T spur and 14T pinion. Will your Torque Master BR-XL work well with this motor? What other information do I need to make this motor work at it best in my crawler?"thumbsup"

Thanks in advance,

Yes they warranty them - Check the connections first but you may have overheated it...

This is the link for a repair.

A 7.4v lipo fully charges to 8.4v so I think comparable - run time wise i think you will be less 2700 to 1450 is a lot for a difference for a lipo to make up.

The lipo will give you much more punch...

It really depends on how closely matched the cells are but much easier to balance charge every time - saves any worry and doesn't do any harm.

Balance charging just bleeds off a small about of charge to keep the voltages between the cells in sync.

Hey John, Im new to the crawling world, and I just bought a Berg. It has Holmes Hobbies 45t TourqeMasters ont it. Well one of the motors I cant get it to do anything. Its getting plenty of power, but it dosent make a noise or even try to move. Nothing in the can, or anything. The guy who I bought it from said they only had 10 mins of run time since he bought them. Any ideas? Thanks. "thumbsup"
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>Could have contaminated brushes or comm. It could also have a hung brush. Make sure the brushes both move freely and pop back to the comm without resistance. If that doesn't work you need a comm and brush cut.

Hey John, Ive tried everything you said, and everything everyone else has said.. lol Ive let almost everyone I know look at it, and no one knows whats wrong with it. The brushes and com look brand new still. What can I do? Thanks

How would those Cobalt 454's work on a 2.2 MOA rig and 8 cells?

More or less just looking for some MOA motors that have about the same ~1950/volt that the big Pullers have. I like my 7T's...but they won't fit the mini-clod or Bully's too well :)

I was just thinking of the 35T's...but they RPM's aren't quite what the Pullers are.

You don't just sell hand wound armatures for the standard 540 cans do you? Not on your site...but it never hurts to ask. 8)

Since it is MOA, I would not suggest outrunners- they will get beat up on the rocks fast. I would suggest a brushed motor or sensored inrunner, probably about a 35t(brushed) or 21.5t(inrunner). Brushed will be much cheaper. I run Tekin FXRs on my rig when I need something small, or the Sidewinder when space isn't an issue. If you will run just one ESC, the FXR pro is a great bet.

It is always best to balance charge. Some packs are well matched and do not need balancing but occasionally, but it is still best practice to balance every time.

The Cobalt 16 is gonna be really fast and have low torque. It would be too fast for me, but you may like it. Compared to mine, maybe 2/3 faster?

I am getting the first run of ESCs made right now, going to team Holmes and team RCC first. In about three months I will have enough made for the site, but first I am putting them through the ringer with my team.

The 7t puller will be available about mid next week. You may pick up a sidewinder or FXR if you need a nice ESC immediately.

Castle does do warrenty, follow the link that Artik1 gave.

The nimh will typically depress more under load. The lipo will have better punch, and be smaller. Runtime will be about the same if mah is the same.

Not sure if this is where this question belongs, but seems as good as any other place.

Thanks in advance,

Any ESC will work with it really, but I use sidewinders and FXRs most frequently. I typically use lipo, and on 2s a pack that can deliver 30a continuous is enough. On 3s I recommend a pack that can deliver 40a continuous. The Torquemaster BR XL will be a great ESC when it is done with beta testing. It is taking a bit longer than expected to roll it out.

Just keep the motor out of dirt, and maybe wrap electric tape around the vents to keep dirt off the comm. Inspect it every few hours of runtime and you will be good!

I'm about out of ideas here. Have you taken the motor out and made sure it spins freely and all?

I don't have just armatures right now. Maybe on the next batch I can convince the factory to sell just some armatures.

I used the 454 cobalts on 2s lipo with great success in my berg. I think they would do dandy for you "thumbsup"
