The motor I am developing should have almost no magnet/ pole attraction, so startup will be the slowest of the slow. Being an outrunner it will have a MUCH higher torque than any 21.5 ROAR based crawler motor. The first KV I am testing is right around 2000.

thank you JRB for the info --- VERY informative!!

So that settles it, I'm holding out for your new outrunners -> any ideas on time to market or pricing? Are you thinking the 2000kv of this motor will still be slower and smoother start-up than your Crawlmasters? I already CAN'T WAIT "thumbsup" :ror: I vote for super-slow 1000kv's too! ( but i get that speed & slow is all the rage these days)

Ran the TMM in the Flea for a good 40 minutes after work today...no issues at all John, the brushes and springs did the trick "thumbsup"

I'll be ordering a couple extra sets of each to have on hand. Thanks!

Would the 10T puller or 7T be a bad idea in a TB01? Just using the TB01 axles for a build, but I would like speed.
Using a 4200 battery. Do I need an ESC with a 7T motor limit, or? Thank you.

4200 cells...how many of them? Voltage is important when deciding which motor you want to run. Example,a 7t puller will run on a 3 cell lipo fine, but you gotta watch the temps at times. A 10t puller will run on a 3 cell and stay allot cooler in a heavier rig"thumbsup" I've run a 10t puller in a heavy super on a 3 cell and never had issues. If you end up with a 7t puller, try to build a little lighter rig, that'll help.

Going to 3s may be a better idea. 4s is a lot of voltage, but 2s would cause issues at low speed. Soon enough I will have an outrunner with better low speed control, so that the breakage is less likely to happen. Of course if you drive them hard you will break just as often.

Great looking rig!

Hey JRB -- update --

I got another set of HR cvd's installed - back to the rocks on 2s this weekend ----- good news / bad news.

Good news is - your crawlmasters work INCREDIBLY even down to 2s lipos --> my 15lb rig, crawls SUPER slow, but does not stall at all. I was very pleasantly surprised, actually much more in control than with 4s (too much speed). And easily crawls as slow as 55T's.

Bad news is - 2s is still enough power to bust axles. Busted two more sets of HR's. The second time around on 2s this weekend i got ALOT of run time in, but still snapped in the end. Going to get a set of TTR cvd's, heard they're stronger. Also run time was still awesome, about 50mins on two 2s 2100mah lipos.

Thanks for a great product!! The crawlmaster 1000's are just fine with 2s lipo (7.5-8volts), even with a very heavy rig. Might be somewhat the speed control too, Kontronik esc are creme of the crop. I'm actually very happy lately with the brake function too, figured out how to use it right finally.

climbs very steep as well no prob, even when the batts were at the end of their cycle... the best stuff i didn't get on vid...

(sorry to hog your thread - but at least its a unbiased promotion from a happy customer) :!:  "thumbsup"

Standard 6 Cell NIMH pack at 7.2V "thumbsup"

Im getting the 200kv so that I can test the bearings and efficiency of the laminations. If it holds up to 4s (or maybe even 6s), then the 1000kv will be cool on 6s if you wanted wheelspeed and torque.

Alright! Great to hear!

The PUller is rated a bit differently, so any normal 540 capable ESC should work really. Just be easy on the axles or you will break them.

Yeah, any normal 540 ESC.

Hey JRH
I am having some problems and need to pick your brain.I am runing a HH7t,fxr,ccbec,3s lipo,jr 8711 for steering,225mg for dig,and a dx 3.0.on start up and under heavy loads my dig servo glitches causing my dig to engage and disengage rapidly. This is going to kill me in in my comp this weekend and I have to run my dig for this terain.Whats causing this and how do I fix it???????????????Thanks in advance.

mamba 25

quick Q regarding esc.'s I have asked b4 but want to confirm b4 frying something.... I have a clod based super, prolly 10lbs, 16.5" WB. I am running novak 55's and have 2 mamba 25's kicking round here. 1- Is it safe? 2- Will they have enough power? As for batts, I will prolly run 6 0r 7 cell nimh or at most 2c lipo. I have seen rigs running them but I don't want to kill mine. Any sudgestions would help! Thanks!!!!

That is a tough one. Have you tried running just the front steering servo from the CC BEC? Could be some noise issue, or a bad servo.

Yeah, just got my pair of 454's from ya today and neither of them had the adapters.

What is your order number, I will get the parts right out. Hired a new guy and he messed up a few orders it seems.

The m25's will be ok on 6 cell 2/3a sized nimh, but not on more powerful batteries. I would run something larger personally.

Hey John...started playing with my new Revolver (which I love!) and noticed today that at times it will make a weird noise for a split second and not run. Usually at a standstill when there's a little bit of a load on it. It also did it once when I whipped it into reverse to keep from falling over.

Is this a normal brushless motor thing or is there something else going on? I've got a Sidewinder, CCBEC, and 3s lipo.

Thanks! "thumbsup"

MRC gearing help

Hey John; I just got my new Mini TM for the Losi MRC and I also opted for a new ESC and ponied up for a Tekin FXR. Now what gear ratio do you recomend for me to run to keep temps down. I do have some RC18 motor gears floating around in the 10 and 11 tooth range. And was looking at ordering metal slipper gear as well.Anything else I should look out for. Also buying CC BEC on Sat. at LHS and a Hitec HS5245MG servo to round out the package. Thanks for your help.

John i received the new endbell for my MiniTM and got it all hooked up but I am wondering if I messed up the timing. I am running the tranny in original position now with an fxr and a dx3r radio. Well wen i got it all hooked up and I could'nt get my drag configure corectly so, its as if it thought it was running backwards so I swapped my wires around and then had to switch the dx3r to go oposite. Now it all seems to be running correctly but like I have seen alot on here; my reverse has more power than forward. And I have seen on here to adjust the timing, but how do I do that? and if I do that how do I determine where 0 is to start from. I know this motor was designed to run backwards and now its not installed backwards. Well if any of that made sence let me know, thanks.

Probably should have posted this in the elec. section, but I got all the stuff from HH. First, my setup:
Stock SCX10
Integy 35t Lathe
CC Sidewinder(Johns programming)
CC BEC( Johns 6v programming)
Futaba s3305
Futaba R153F
11.1 V Poly 3S Lipo from HH
ESC wires soldered to motor, no caps
Deans plug for batt-ESC connection
BEC plugged into RX BEC port
BEC power wires soldered to Deans plug on ESC
Red wire on ESC pulled out per CC instructions

Here is my issue, small sparks when hooking battery up(ESC switch off). Is that normal? Everything works well and my initial 5-10min test runs of truck show no signs of drivability or heat issues. Its been about 15 years since my last hobby grade rc(AE RC10t). So Im pretty much a noob again and have never used Lipos or external BECs.

Thanks JRH for hooking me up with all the gear and the great service.

John,

I'm planning on running your 35T motors for my new Berg build. My question is will my current Zippy-h 3S 1450mah 30c-40c Lipo "keep up" with these two motors? I was considering some 2200mah 20c-30c Lipos, but the amp output is about the same as my current Lipos, would these really be necessary?

Thanks for any suggestions you might have! "thumbsup"
