So, safe to say updates on this have been lacking. After my first outing I have been faced with some electrical issues. After decasing the the BEC and RX I have been having dramas with one of my FXR's. The front esc fires up normally but the rear just comes on with all of the LED's dim with no chimes.Heres my post from he electronics section.

My setup is as follows.

Dual FXR sharing one set of power leads.
BEC wired to Power leads feeding the RX
RX is a Futaba R2104GF

There is no issue with the receiver as I have tried the front ESC in both channel 2 and 4 which works fine. I have also tried the rear ESC in both 2 and 4 and only ever get the dim lights. I have not run any software updates recently.

Unfortunately I bought mine second hand sorry warranty is not available. Does any one know if this can be fixed? Or is it just a matter of replacing the ESC?

I have not been overly happy with the FXR drag break so I think I will invest in some Micro Sidewinders once they are back in stock. But I would still like to be able to fix the FXR.

Well what a couple of weeks it has been battling the electronics. In the end ESC's were playing up. Finally got them working and now channel 2 on the R2104GF has died. But I owed to it myself and the rig to get it going. I have pulled the RX from my Mantis so that I can log some hours on the Thing. Fortunately I ordered an R2106GF to try out and that should be here in the next week. With a little help from Shelby (4XFord) I now have some new motors to try also. HH torquemaster pro 35 turns. Dual mag cans, standup brushs, and 10mm comms. I hope to get these installed tonight and tested one afternoon this week."thumbsup"

Thanks Ben,

Here is a look at the R2106GF compared to the R2104GF

It is a sturdy little unit and will be great for decasing to save even more space. The antenna is only two centremetres long and can be tucked into the case without taking it apart.

Yer build is ALMOST as sexy as mine bro. ALMOST.

Looks good dude. The FXRs are on a worldwide strike right now because mine are fugged up too.

Clear yer inbox. Shes fulled up.

So after testing could you post up your findings on what springs and geometry settings you have found works best on your rig please? I bought one used and am searching for a better setup.... I feel mine struggles in many different areas thanks mate!

New motors are not in as yet. But I did take it for one last run with the Broods and to shot the first video of my Thing in action.

I've got to say that I have a new favourite rig. The Thing performed really, really well. I am so looking forward to getting this rig dialed. Heres a short video of some twilight practice with my brother and father.

Hey Camo rig is really coming together bro, looks sweet in white!!

I just bought a r2106gf to try in my trailfinder 2 build and I'm wondering if you have done a test to see what kind of range your getting with the new rx? Thx buddy!!

Nice vid Cam, looks well balanced and somehow lightweight or more agile than the vids i seen of the Mantis. Might just be the course, but sort of looks more precise in doing what you want it to do.

Hey Jeremy, I have not changed my link and shock location since building this rig. Probably cause I have only run it twice. But here is a picture to show the current set up. I run VP upper link mounts in the front and rear. With the front links in the top hole and the rears in the middle hole. I have not adjusted the height of either link mount post.
