Highlucks - Team BWD - The Thing

From what I've seen camo the setup on yours is just about what other people are running too. Now it's time to get ittybitty to make me some tires!

Thanks guys, I am presently on vacation south of Perth in a town called Denmark. Of course the thing is with me and I plan to shoot some more video of it crawling the famous Elephant rocks down here. Stay tuned for the next installment.

Thanks Matt."thumbsup"

Back from holidays what a blast. Found some of the best rocks in W.A. I just wish they were a lot closer to home. Five hour drive is just a little too much for me for a crawling session. Again the rig performed really well except for the inherent FXR dramas I have been having. Again I had to recalibrate them on the fly. Anyway here is the video from the week end. Enjoy.

Nice rock indeed mate, i dont know about 5 hrs but Dan i believe may have done 3-4 hrs when he lives up Newcastle and we comp at Lithgow. some nice driving and recoveries"thumbsup"

How is that unique looking rear tres etup come with any big losses?

I would assume you'd lose a little of both side and forward traction.

I dig the all white BTW. It looks so sano.

Thanks guys.

@Everett. Because I had put myself into a bad position for the gate. If I could have reversed through I would have.

@TSK. The cut on the rears seems to work quite well. heading up to gate 8 of 9 on that video was a very smooth 60-70* climb. If that is anything to judge by. The thinking behind it was to allow V pattern to grab onto rocks and ledges allowing for a better bite on dig turns. I have been thinking about removing some more lugs from them in either an every other or every fourth row pattern.

With a bit of luck I will have time this week to install the new motors, a new Servo and the new RX. Just in time for this months comp on Saturday.

Pretty interesting theory on those tires. Whatever the case, it looks pretty dialed. Good job"thumbsup"

No Updates to report but here are some photo's taken by our resident professional Photography Paul Richards.

I blew the top off on the first gate but it managed to stay attached until I hit a boundary and gave me the opportunity to reattach it.

Finally back from New South Wales. Where we held our National titles over the past week end. The competition was an absolute blast and every one in attendance was on top of their game. The thing worked flawlessly all week in the lead up to the event and exceptionally well on the day. I drove pretty well through out the day and consistently throughout the three courses. Even registering my first perfect run ever. I was pretty much certain though that I had not made it through to the top five shoot out. You can imagine my amazement though when my name was read out by Mike "The crALL BLACK".

Here is a look at the top five. three secret agents and a ChumpRT. So the thing was in good company.

So then I had to steady my self for the big round, two bottles from the four pack of JD and Cola that I had just bought really came in handy for that task. Even better was the news that I had been drawn as the last driver of the shoot out. So my turn came and it was all on my shoulders with the previous 4 drivers all DNF'ing on Mike's killer final course. I had driven cleanly with only seven reverses to my nameand and was at the last gate with 30 seconds to spare much like the other drivers, but this is where we all came unstuck. You know those gates where if you do not get it spot on on your first try you are up shit creek with out a paddle, well it was one of those ones. I had a good crack at it and thought I was lined up pretty well, I wasn't. Ended up on my lid with five seconds to go and that was when it happened. Instead of just conceding defeat at the hands of this monster course. I tried to get the car rubber side down and plowed into my leg. So those 7 points worth reverses that I mentioned before that had me placed in 2nd, turned into 17 points and 4th place with two seconds on the clock. Just one of those silly decisions that is made when you are not quite thinking right. In the end though still a better result than last year and I am happy about that.

This was my first comp with the rig after it had been to see Jenny Craig and I think the diet paid off. The rig is currently sitting at 4.57lb (2076gms) and I am really happy with it. At this time I do not see any point in going lighter as it just flat out worked for me.

I would like to extend a massive thank you to Don at BWD. For taking me on as a driver at the start of this year. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Here's a bunch shots from the event, these are taken from the Final course.

Thanks Guys."thumbsup"

And JD if I had, had a fosters I may have run the risk of puking all over one of those pretty secret agents:lmao:

Well done again mate. Bummer about the vehicle touch at the end of top 5. IM annoyed at myself for touching the final gate on Pro 3. Had I not there would have been two of us in top 5 for BWD. But what happens in the day happens. You drove well all the same to get where you got when the pressure was on.
