Hobby Town Oshkosh build days

Big props to Creeper for all the extra hours he put into the project "thumbsup".

I agree with needing a final skimcoat on the pieces. I think that will give it that "finished" look, and even out the texture. Jetboat mentioned misting the crete with water after 30 minutes of laying it down also. Just a few thoughts to consider.

With my job situation in a state of "FUBAR" at the moment, I'm not sure how much I'll be able to contribute to the cause, or make it to comps...hopefully that will change for the better.

More work done today by carl he finished all the sides and they look sweet me and jesse went down and trimmed all the excess burlap and cleaned hauled 5 bucket fulls of create off the floor into the dumpster sounds like we may head down tommorow night while the dirt track racing is going on and do a skim coat on a piece or two to figure how much more create and sand we will need thanks again carl for your hard work.

Next time I visit family in Fond du lac I will HAVE to visit your shop and go play

Hell ya"thumbsup" Hobbytown is gonna be AWESOME!

CREEPER: You are the Man"thumbsup" Thanks for all the extra time you put in"thumbsup"

waiting for creeper and old spice to pick me up hoping to get there around 10 did some work on fridat night thursday night and wednesday last week only an hour or twoeach night but thats where its at all the sides and 60 degrees are concreated we need to lay a final skim coat and major clean up and we should call it a done deal

I picked up a bunch of carrage bolts, washers and nuts at fleet farm for tighting the legs on the taller rock sections. I may be able to go to oshkosh wendsday or thursday but all depends on how my back is doing. The finish coats need to be applied and beleave me, if I could help I would but if I dont rest my lower back I will be down for another couple of weeks. If I bring a rolling chair I may be able to do some of the leg repairs. Come to think of it there may be a office chair by the back of the track on the left at hobby town. Well post the day or days you are available so we can get something going.

This is an open invite to any and all WiRCRC members, or any one who wants to lend a hand.

Thanks in advance for you help.

I could donate a few hours of labor on Wednesday (my B-day 8)), not sure who'll be there or what needs to be done, though. Anyway, the offer is there since my free time is very limited at the moment.

Chris and I will be headed that way around 6pm on wednesday to work on stiffining the support structure on the tall sections.

Old spice and creeper are there doing some work now we are planning on spending thursday athere i took a day off work to hopefully get closer to finishing the build.

Kasper, Stinkyy and I got a little bit more done, mostly reinforcing some of the shakier tables. The ones that have been sprayed look awesome "thumbsup". Good job, guys! Hope they all get the same finish treatment.

Not sure what to do about the one that crashed though . Thats gonna take some muscle to fix. The carriage bolts will strengthen them up, but some will need a few 1"x4" diaginal braces (Bob's got a bunch by the dirt oval announcers stand).

Stinkyy got some nice beauty shots of the skunk-mobile on the course, I'm sure he'll post up soon 8).

Well Kasper & I got it mostly cleaned up... We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is very crawlable, and I even crawled a little."thumbsup"
Thanks T-buck!

We still need to tidy up a bit and get the bases painted...
But that is for another day, as I know everyone is getting burned out with this build:oops: I think we can all agree that it has been a big time PITA.
But it will be worth it when it is pouring rain outside & we need somewhere to CRAWL!

Thanks to everyone who helped!!! We could not have done it without you!"thumbsup"

Was there any more concrete sprayed to finish off the remaining peices? Or are we saving that for another day? Also, did that one "legless" table get fixed? Just wondering...

It HAS been a huge PITA, but we're a dedicated (not right in the head?) bunch. If we ever get the full space we were expecting, it'll be even better!

P.S. I might have some more free time during the week coming up, I'll let you guys know when I know more. I'll still have to work the weekend, but possibly Thursday and Friday off.

All but 6 pieces are sprayed as far as i am concerned we are leaving them the way they are 12 have red and black 6 are natural spent 12 hours there yesterday thanks to carl and jeff for finishing the last of the create work and the color dye jesse came down around 5 and helped me finish up the clean up we need one more visit to arrange the sections and do a little dusting for we had dust flying every where.

Hauled some of the tooling home last night going to try and get there tonight friday and see if i can do some mopping and dusting and if anyone is free on sunday we need to arrange the sections and wala track is open for crawling .

I knew this was going to be a long dragged out build as i hear some are pissed off about the whole build and some are not i hope now the course is done we can all go back to be one happy club like we were before this started and enjoy why we got interested in this in the first place to crawl and enjoy.

Thanks to everyone

Man, I am pumped. Here I am in Iraq, thinking about home, and come to find out that Appleton has an indoor crawling comp. Nice! I live in the Waukesha area, so its not that far of a drive, and since I 1:1 as well, I planned on visiting the area when I get to leave Kansas where I am stationed. Looks like you may have another member up in the area soon enough. Granted I don't get to leave Kansas for like another year, or Iraq for another 3-4 months, but I will be up there for some sweet comping action.

Just be nice, I drive a scaler, so don't make fun. ;)

There's a lot of us that have scalers and trail trucks, so I don't think anyone will be laughing."thumbsup"
Be safe and come home!8)

Thanks for keeping us all safe and protecting our great country most club members all have scalers as well as comp rigs be safe over there.

Like Kasper and Super said "thumbsup". Take care and stay safe!

Yes, we comp, but we spend alot more time just running our crawlers/scalers/trail trucks for fun. We have casual fun runs pretty regularly in the warmer months, and go to some pretty cool local spots. Feel free to look us up when you get back .

As for your rig, "run what ya brung" is kinda what we're all about. And you're welcome to join us when you can!
