Hobbyking Lipo for RS10?

Hello all,

Hobbyking is probably one of the cheapest sources to get LiPo batteries - so I assume many of you got yours from there.

Could you please tell me if you found one that works well in the stock setup? (i.e. fits the standard battery location ).

Thank you.

I run 2s and 3s in my two Merv's I don't/won't run them in the RS10 due to the fact that you need a 20.00 cut off ( the price of two lipo's) or a lipo ESC ( the price of 10 lipo's)

I do run every last NiCad and Nihm in the RS10.

If you are Lipo ready for it then by all means run them. I buy the zippy's for the Merv's.

If you get some Lipo's get a charger with a discharge and a balancer built in.

I went with the "turnigy accucel-6
charges all My batteries and charges them fast once it's setup.
Also get a few of the "MEGA ADAPTORS" this will allow you to charge/run anything since it's like 7 battery connectors in one.

And YES hobby king is the cheapest but be prepared to wait up to 3 months if it's out of stock and 6 weeks if it's in stock.

Thanks for the reply.

I think I am lipo ready - I have a lipo charger / balancer, and I use lipo in my E-Revo.

I also have a lipo battery monitor - which makes a loud sound if the lipo battery is low ( cost: $3.50) - this is a low cost alternative to a more expensive cut-off.

I have bought stuff from Hobbyking several times (in stock items) and it never took more than 2 weeks, sometimes only 1 week.

All I need now is a recommendation for a lipo that fits well the battery location on the RS10.

A company on ebay sells the RS10 pack in the standard 6-pack configuration using Elite 5000mah cells. Each cell is .91" dia (23.6mm) x 1.71" tall (43.43mm). Add a little in each direction for heat shrink and you have the size of the available battery area. Then it's SEARCH time. You're probably not going to find a battery that is a drop in that will utilize all of the available space. Just find one with 1000mah or more and AT LEAST 20c-30c that will fit and you're good to go.

I use the $3.49 lipo monitors from HK for a number of our vehicles also. They're inexpensive and work great.

Well - I am really looking for a low cost LiPo solution - not a relatively expensive NiMH one. Still: thanks for the hint.

I will see if I can get some Lipo cells and build myself if nothing directly fits... I will post results here.

Good suggestions from these guys, but something to consider. If there's a thought at all that you'll either upgrade to an aftermarket chassis or build your own, you might run into issues fitting the battery in the new chassis if you got it to fit the stock RS10 chassis. I ran into that problem when I bought an upgraded brick pack battery for the stock chassis. That thing was incredibly difficult to fit into a new chassis.
