How do I properly charge my battery?

Hi all, I'm a complete NOOB to RC's. I recently purchased a used Losi Mini Rock Crawler and it came with a Li-Polymer battery. The charger I have been using is not adjustable and a friend of mine suggested a MRC Superbrain 977. I ordered the charger and apparently said friend has only used Nicametal Hydride (sorry if that's spelled wrong) packs and doesn't know how to properly charge my battery. The charger is at USPS now and I would like to use it when I pick it up in the morning. My battery is a 7.4v 600mah 252P if that helps. It also has a 3 prong attachment on it that I am unsure what is used for. I've been charging my battery with it unhooked for about a week now and have had no problems. Thanks for your help.

The charger I ordered (Superbrain 977) Is a Lipo charger correct? Everything I am reading is saying something about a 1C charge, how do I accomplish this?

Great charger. READ THE MANUAL!!! Mucho Important!!! I discharge my Lipos before i charge them. I seem to get the most out of my charges that way. The whole "1c" charge rate, is quite important. That is why we say READ THE MANUAL! Its basically a percentage of the MaH of the battery, but very important if you do not want to throw away $30 every time you mess up a charge.

don't forget that some ESC's do not take anything over a 2s or 3s Lipo.

If you can send that charger back and get a triton or hyperion. The superbrain chargers are junk especially the 977. It's over priced, burns out easily, and doesn't charge lipos properly either.

Hyperion makes the absolute best lipo chargers in the hobby market and most all have built in balancers which is essential for lipos.
