sadly, yes it appears to be true.Social Media brought out a lot of narcissists from the closet .

I find Social Media platforms bring out some of the worst in people. Sadly, vanity and self-aggrandizement seem to have become encouraged qualities on these platforms. Even my local radio station is encouraging it. They are holding a contest, the best social media selfie taken this summer can win a trip to...somewhere breath-taking.
Like a lot of folks, I passed time on the Facebook platform with friends early on. It was fun then, but now I find it about as appealing as the magazines in the checkout aisle at the grocery store. If google searches didn't occasionally lead me to facebook pages I would likely close my dormant account all together.
I grew up when vanity was discouraged and humility was considered cordial.

I hope it will soon be recognized as the decease it is, and consequently banned worldwide.
I think the latest ( Italian ) frame it pretty well.

I can assure you that if i had been on that train platform and seen that guy take a selfie with a victim of some tort, i would stomp his punk ass real good.

Thats what really shows the sad side of social media. It has removed all common sense and empathy from people. Thats a human life laying on the ground and that jack ass only cares about 'look at me' ... yup donkey punch award for sure for him.
Years ago our HR department head spoke at a managers meeting we had for all our stores. She openly told us, if you are friends with someone on Fbook to unfriend them. Be smart about what we post because not only does my company but more and more companies are using it to monitor your personal life and off time. She was so right, we check that and credit scores as a prehire background to employment.
I hope it will soon be recognized as the decease it is, and consequently banned worldwide.
Social media can't be blamed for the lack of common sense and empathy. That started long ago.
I often read in the news that some one got killed in traffic as some car or semi went into oncoming traffic, but the worst part is the news say " for unknown reasons"
And we all bloody well know what the reason most likely was.
Before the phone internet accidents like that happened like a couple of times every year, and now it happen once a week.

I just pray people smart up and recognize that what social media give you at a high price, you can easy manage to do for free with simple things like a text or a e mail.
At least then only 3 persons can be surprised by the content.
1: you ( i cant believe i just pressed send )
2: the receiver and some guy in a Maryland bunker ( i cant believe he wrote that )
I would be totally freaked out if suddenly my youtube channel got a large influx of followers, would probably prompt me to delete it and set up a new channel and upload all my videos as hidden / private.
I hate how they call every car crash an accident. Sorry, but if you were on your phone and you failed to stop and hit the car in front of you that's not an accident. It's pure negligence.
