How to install Vanquish Ball Links?

Sorry if this is a basic question but after searching around I learned a few things....

1) You can buy special pliers and other tools to install the ball into a ball link. I've always just used regular old pliers.
2) Some ball links are designed to have the ball installed from only one side. If you install the ball from the wrong side, it will stretch the socket & damage it allowing the ball to come out more easily than normal.

So my question is...
Is there a special way to install the ball into the Vanquish ball links?

I tried using a small pair of pliers and it wasn't big enough to push the ball into the link.

I was thinking of using bigger pliers but decided to check online in case there's a better / proper way to install them.

Thanks!

Now I'm assuming you are talking about the 4- link links right??

The rod ends from vp are just regular revo rod ends, TRA5347. RPM says to use a socket (I think 6mm) so when you push in the ball, it cant pop out other side. Tons of ways, just look around and see what you got layin around to use.

I use whatever pliers I have laying around. Put one side of the pliers on the plastic part and one end on the metal ball and clamp it. Works well enough for the hundreds I've installed "thumbsup"

Not a fan of this way, I feel like it stretches and makes the ball loose and sloppy. I like it tight with no slop.:flipoff:

Got beat to it… you can use a set of ball link pliers like those used on helicopter ball links, or you can double down and pick up a set of Tekno shock pliers.

The Tekno pliers can be used to hold shock shafts while you screw on ne ball links. I've found they also worked well for holding Vanqish links and steering rods while putting on and adjusting rod ends.

They also have a ball link press built into the handle. It works extremely well for pressing ball links AND, just as importantly out.

Don't be shocked by the price though. Everything Tekno makes is bomb proof and very, very high quality. I've found these to best the best suck pliers I've ever owned and now that I've a made a move into the crawler world I've found even more use for them.

Shock pliers have a purpose....special pliers to install a ball into a rod end is silly! I do use "any" pliers to remove! just put the ball on the bench and push down as mentioned"thumbsup"

Set the metal ball on a hard surface and push the rod end on over the metal ball.
I've done numerous rod ends this way! Never stretched a rod end! I agree, you don't want massive slop between the metal ball and the rod end, but you don't want them so tight that they have restricted movement.
I guess I've never put this much thought into installing metal balls into rod ends.... I just pop them in and go!! Never had an issue.

Just pop it in like sic1to and 2-shot say, it's not rocket surgery!

As for removing, a well-used rod end will just drop the drop the ball.

I use the Protek shock pliers but they are pretty much the same as the Tekno ones. Popping balls in the rod ends is just one of the many things those pliers make easier. They are probably one of the best RC tools I ever bought.

Protrek does make some good stuff. I use one of their servos in a B5M, bought it because my Hitec died and that's what they had at the track. O actually like it more than I did the Hitec and it was less money.

I also have two of their big hauler bags. No way I'd ever give them up for something else.
