JK on the cheap!

Considering she came with all the zombie parts AND the fish tank "the governor" had with zombie heads in it, (its under her feet in the packaging) i couldn't pass her up for $8. Both on sale got the two for $18 :) Now that's scale realism on the cheap "thumbsup". Haven't quite decided if i'm going to go full on zombie mobile but man finding these two awesome items had to be a sign to just go all out...!!

His hand fits perfect around the gear shift and the steering wheel, it was hard to cut his whole bottom half off as he was such a well made action figure!! The articulation on them these days is amazing! not what i remember as a kid, all the joints are functional "thumbsup"

Picture after winching up a very steep uneven incline, amazing how strong these winches are being used waaaay beyond their suggested pull rates. My truck is easily about 5 1/2 lbs and it dead lifts it as well as pulled it up a ridiculous incline WHILE the truck would periodically get stuck and kept pulling :). I hooked the winch line to the rusty looking rock directly behind the front driver side wheel "thumbsup"

And the incline. Started the truck up about a foot up from the ground and the winch did all the rest of the work! I video'd it but with one hand on the phone the other operating winch control and truck transmitter the quality is a bit shotty!! Ill view it and if its good enough to be passable on Youtube ill link it.

And you can see the rest of the rock wall gauntlet these pictures are just the very beginning, but as i improve the truck amazing how hard or impossible passes become easy! The new Hitec servo is awesome, never had any issue moving my tires and was plenty fast especially with the BEC kicking it a steady 6v. The 24T pinion gave some noticeable speed as well, very happy, so far i have not had issue of not enough torque, and the top end speed is probably around 15mph if i had to guess. And all the accessories stayed on the truck this time! "thumbsup"

Due to my Hitec servo being slightly larger then my old Axial i had to remove the cross member behind the bumper mount. While the old Axial servo would hit it at times the Hitec hit it on the slightest down travel and while i could probably have filed it down i opted to just take it out. Now while the bumper mount does prevent the two sides of the chassis coming toward each other during different maneuvers, me being the performance junkie i am couldn't leave it alone! So i was at Lowes the other day picking up some other stuff and as usual wandered into the hardware section where they have numerous pull out drawers filled with all types of goodies! So they even have a couple drawers specifically for hobbies, and one of them has aluminum tubing. To make the deal even sweeter they were on clearance so both packs of aluminum tubing in the following picture cost me like $1.50 "thumbsup"
So, i used hollow aluminum 3/16" tubing cut to length, stuffed them between the two shock towers front and back, and epoxied them in (don't ask me their length i cut till they fit snug). Also you can see i used 1/8" solid Al tubing for my rear antenna, mounted in a conical rubber stop.

I also started off with my zombie apocalypse truck trial. I'm mostly using "Jute" - a thin rope with 5 or so strands but very strong, to attach body parts and such  In some cases i've used only one or two strands to keep the thickness down. I figure rope fits with the scarcity of items in the apocalypse and if i don't like how its going i can cut it off. Anything i'm not able to rope in i used a dab or two if epoxy or loctite superglue.

I need more caging, the fence on the driver's window is about all i could find for now. Also I want to definitely have some blood splatter, and incorporate Penny Blake's zombie body somewhere in the truck. Comment if you like, or have some ideas i am definitely open. The truck body is getting heavy but i still like the idea, i'm definitely all about the functionality and performance of my crawler but the zombie apocalypse truck is just too fun an idea not to run with!!

Drove up on the log ended up in a funny stance, the rear passenger side is providing counter balance but even still i'd say the truck is set up pretty well.

Ended up in a field of straw.

With all this crazy zombieness, just gotta pray sometimes.

So i caged out my front lights and started running slats of lexan on the windshield. It is quite time consuming getting the window's arch correct so as to why it isn't finished, i was impatient and had to run the truck. Truck is great with the 24pinion and bec kicking 6v to my hitec servo throwing my front wheels around! No really, having more fun with the truck as ever, and been watching some apocalypse movies to get some ideas for the truck so more in store! "thumbsup"

Some updates on the truck, kind of just stripped it down made it simple, then added some apocalypse reinforcements :) First picture is before i removed all the decals and blacked out the writing on the rear quarter panels.

Found some $1 store business card holders made of black painted metal mesh which looked perfect for some caging around the truck, and they worked out like a charm.

Fully protected :). Caged out the headlights, finished the louvers/slating on the windshield which is cheap aluminum from Lowes which i sanded down to get the "brushed aluminum" look. The headlights are from $3 chip led flashlights i picked up which i have running through a deans connector to pick up power AFTER the BEC. I tried running them on 2s (7.4) and they lit quite brightly but were extremely hot to the touch, so right now they're on a 6v line running cool :ror:, originally they were ran on 3 AAA's.

Threw some shovels in the back, moved my dog up front riding shot gun, mainly because he was in the way of the mesh originally but doesn't hurt to have a best friend close when the world goes to sh*t. Left a bit of a gap by the front passenger door with intention to close it off but i think it adds a little more to the realism factor, driver side is sealed tight tho "thumbsup"

Have the rear caged out behind the rear bench, have firewood a fishing net and rod, cook wear all the essentials, just need a damn gun smh the axe will have to do for now :flipoff: fitted some hollow aluminum tubing as a dual exhaust under the bumper which i hope doesn't interfere too much in crawling but ended up being the best looking spot to put it in. Got my taillights on full brightness (there ended up being a break in the wire ), and waterproofed the led controller for good measure (it had been completely submerged a few times with limited water "resisting", so it's damn resilient!).
