Joywrex's TF2 "MiAylita" Build (Pic Heavy)

Did ya scratch it up yet ??? Such a nice paint job, thought you'd make a shelf queen out of it...glad to see it in action "thumbsup"

great build! Love the Wall Drug bumper sticker"thumbsup"
Thanks!

The mystery spot sticker is awesome too "thumbsup" Where's the "Keep Tahoe Blue"?
Yeah I did the Oregon heart bumper sticker instead. That's where I'm from.
I need a camper top to put more stickers on.

The reason I'm taking so many pictures is so that I can thrash it without forgetting how nice it once was.

To me, building and crawling is almost a zen meditation. You build something beautiful knowing that it will be destroyed. It's kind of like ice sculpture in that way. You scratch it up and it shows you what it really should wants to look like. It's hard but it must be done! It reminds you that life is short and possessions are not the point.

Can you hear the clicking sound of the side mirrors breaking off in the beginning of the last video?

Here is my solution. I drilled holes in the mirrors and glued in small rubber bands. The I glued the rubber bands to the inside walls of the cab. Now the are 'break-away' mirrors. Here is a 7 second video of them:

I don't know how you guys removed the body pins that connect the bed to the frame but this is what I did.

I cut the body pins to the correct height and used some shapelock to create a platform for velcro. Shapelock is cool stuff. You use a head gun and it becomes very soft, then it dries to a delrin kinda consistency. I explain it in the quadrocker thread. You can see in this picture that one has cooled down and hardened and the other is still cooling.

what size tow hook is that? trying to get a sense of the sizes of the king kong hooks.

I might try that mount idea for the bed. i have some moldable plastic handy.

Oops, well there's a Quadrocker video. I'm going to try to make a new one of those out of a mini with leaf springs...

Anyways,
I moved the front shock mounts back and I used a screw that was too long for one of the mounts. It 'screwed' my spur gear. Now it makes a clicking sound. I kind of like it:flipoff:

I liked the decals that other people use but I wanted to accelerate the stripe a bit and have more 80's colors. Can you tell the difference?

I went to a micro servo in order to make room for a full cab interior.

I put heatshrink tubing over the threaded rod so it doesn't scratch on things.

I found another cool spot to tear off my side mirror...and then lose it. I also got the plastic driveshaft to pop off of the pin joint but it popped right back in.

I did a little crawling after a long break.
That front bumper hangs up on everything. I need a stinger or something.
Also, I need to remove the center skid plate.
