Just bought yeti xl rtr

Here's a problem I have with axial.
It says I can run this on 6s out the box.
NO WAY will it last.
I'm running 4s and jumping it some. Today
Was the only time I feel as though I jumped
It hard.
6s would kill it in a week.

Thanks to bhb for his mods and fixing.
Otherwise I think I cut my loses and move on.

Sorry for the rant. But now mine is busted.
And thanks to the Internet my lhs doesn't have any
Parts.
We should support small business. It's what
Made us.
We'll at least tomorrow I can still run the kids
Traxxes. It didn't break. Haha.

My buddy and I are in the same boat, feel your pain. Both built kits, added parts before we built them so they wouldn't break, and they've made it through two sets of packs each... at this point it's either take a major loss or fix it. I'm pretty disappointed in the quality of it, we have only ran 4s. Both of my diffs have roached a bearing (upgraded fast eddie bearings right from the start). Both have broke axle couplers in the same spot. I'm accumulating spare parts now so if it does break I'm not done for a week.

Decided to take the front diff apart today
To fix that axle bearing. We'll found the diff
Didn't turn to good.
Found a spider gear broken.
Need to order more parts. Lol.

Here's a pic.

Anybody else get bevel cut gears in the front diff?

This is a rtr yeti.

Thought they were supposed to
Be straight cut gears?

Whooaahh! Dang. That sucks. I have never seen Planetary gears shred but sometimes a Sun gear. I run a Traxxas XO-1 motor in my XXL which is almost twice the power of a stock XXLE and my Diffs/gears never wince or even look worn. Wish Axial knew what Losi does.

Anyway, when/if mine go, i am going to use the Planetary gears from a Losi 8T 2.0 (3.0 has different gearing) rebuild kit Losi Differential Gear & Shaft Set [LOSA3502] | Parts - AMain Performance Hobbies - AMain Performance Hobbies, HPI pins, Losi HD Diff Cups and Shim it accordingly. What sucks is that Axial used a funky Sun Gear but i haven't seen those explode yet so they can go back in until the Goofy Diff housing is made by the aftermarket other than HR.

Thanks mike. I got enough parts ordered
To fix this. More stuff on backorder. Anybody found bevel cut gears
In a rtr yeti xl?

I have ckecked it out.
My understanding was they came new with straight cut gears.
You fixed the pinion clearance problem.
Mine doesn't have a pinion clearance issue.
And there are bevel cut gears in it from new.

Dude I think I over looked this gazing at your spider gears... Those are Beveled gears !!! And your saying that you bought this rtr New ??????? And it had beveled gears!!!!!!
If that's correct PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!
If they didn't your gonna see a lot of ANGRY RTR XL OWNERS !!!!
I tried to help Axial from releasing faulty drivetrain so it didn't hurt their rep (BECAUSE I LIKE AXIAL) and F US OVHA!!!

also By the look of the ring gear on how the end of the teeth (are rounded) I'm a 100% sure you do have pinion clearance issues...But I could be wrong..

Yep bought it new. Only have 2 weeks. Rtr with bevel gears. I just watched your video again. Gonna do your mod right now.
Cause I put pinion and diff in case. Held it with fingers. Felt good. Then bolted cover on. Guess what.
Click. - click and very hard to turn.
I think you nailed this.
Going to chuck it up and grind. Ok. Just did the mod on the pinion. Spins pretty good now. I may have taken to much off. Cause now I need a slightly bigger spacer between bearings.

Any suggestions or try to make one?

I try to warn people little at a time... The most important thing is that the teeth are ground EVENLY
rest your bearing against the back of the pinion and turn it with a little force.. if it feels uneven check the spacing with a light and mark the tooth with a sharpie... adjust each tooth in a criss cross pattern like tightening (lugnuts) that way your not chancing your self down a hole..."thumbsup"
AND BEARING FIRST ON THE PINION SHIMMS AFTER
thanks for giving me the time of day"thumbsup"

You got it bhb. It works.
I was checking it again assembled.
If I don't put any pressure on the driveshaft and spin it as fast as I can. Let it float in spins like nothing. No resistance what so ever. I'm gonna leave it like this and when my parts get here assemble and try it.

Excited about my yeti again.
Thanks to BHB!!!

O and 47 could you join my HD gear thread for your review ... Thanks you guys are helping build the momentum so other guys don't get screwed ovha!!!

Hi everyone.
Just bought it yesterday. Found this forum last night.
Already have read about the rear end bounce and what springs and oil to try. Awesome info.
I don't have much knowledge of rc stuff but I'm learning.
Things I'm looking to do.
Lighting, so I can run it at night.
Springs and oil.
Read up on getting better steering. Thing turns like an old mack truck. That will take some time though. Don't know what a BEC is or how to wire it.
Much learning to do.
I'm running it with venom 5k 20c lipos.
I'm impressed with it. Really good Power and run time is good to.
Time to go play. Batts charged up.
Have fun everyone.

Welcome to the forum bro! I've learned a s**t ton of stuff in the past couple of weeks and I don't plan on stopping...

Well here's my 1 week old yeti xl.
No parts yet. Maybe tomorrow?
Thanks to axial for putting out a DEFECTIVE rc from the go. Is really nice out here today.
So yup, I'm pissed.
If I had the money I'd go buy a xxl 2e.
What a crappy company.
Checked my parts order.
Guess what?
Hasn't shipped yet!!
Guess why. 1 item went on backorder.
Why?
Cause every bodies yeti xl has blown the front diff!!!!!!!
I called and had it removed. So they ship the other stuff.
As I was ordering on sun I noticed every time I updated cart, some parts went on backorder. So I placed order to get what I needed. 1 went on backorder while I was checking out.

CAUSE EVERY FRONT AND REAR DIFF WILL FAIL!!!!!#.

THANKS AXIAL FOR A PIECE OF JUNK.

I'M SO PISSED.

IT'S LEGAL EXTORSION.

For what it cost I should not have to be rebuilding gear sets.

I. WILL. NEVER. BUY. ANOTHER. AXIAL. PRODUCT!!!!#!!

TOMORROW I'M BUYING A

LOSI XXL 2E.
SCREW AXIAL!!##
WHAT BS.

this is the worst piece of junk I've ever bought.

I know. I should have done more research. But when you go to a lhs and ask questions I expect help. Didn't get that. I'll deal with that guy tomorrow.

Axial is a lousy company!!
NEVER AGAIN.

I feel you 47yok, I'm on the edge of fixing mine and selling it to buy something else. I want an RR10 Bomber or something more crawl worthy but I just can't figure out how not to lose $500 in upgrades/repairs on this one.

I've always been surprised axial doesn't have a social media person watching the forums to defend themselves and hear customer complaints and resolve them. It's much needed and would be a good support item to see from them in this case. Instead people will do a google search on yeti xl and this may come up and steer people clear of their product.

Yep you guessed it. When I get it back together. It's for sale.

Pm me if any body wants to buy this junk.

If you're interested in selling as is and cancelling your whole parts order let me know.
