Keep Right

I drive the same stretch of road 3-5 days a week, 75 miles each way. My work truck has no less than 4 cameras, a gps, inertial meter, and a early warning collision system, We are limited to the posted speed limit. One of the cameras looks for the signs, and if it sees a speed limit sign, and your going faster it records everything, front, back, inside, out, throttle position, and gps location and it all gets sent to a company to decide if we breached any company policy. If so, it goes to my boss, his boss, and his boss after that.

I drive the speed limit, cruise control on. BUT, if I pass someone I CANNOT go any faster than the posted limit. So I am sometimes hung out for 10 miles going around 5 or 6 cars all going 2 mph under. Then once you get by them they do everything they can to get around you and then slow back down to 3 under. I have passed the same car 8 times in 60 miles, never once letting off the cruise control.

Fact is sometimes the guy out in the left lane is trying, but everyone else is being an ass.

AND use your cruise control.

Company vehicles are understandable. But if you aren't in one, and you aren't making time on the vehicle(s) to your right all the while holding up a half dozen cars behind you, gtf over.

Awesome, it's about time the cops did something about these slow asses who won't move over and just sit in the fast lane! If you're coming into the lane (any lane!) then do the speed of the other cars and don't impede anybody's progress! "thumbsup"

Wow, that is way over the top big brother in your truck. If it takes more than a minute or two to pass, you probably shouldn't attempt to pass because you're holding up everybody else.

Sorry, but while it might irritate you, people in the right hand lanes do not need to be going at your required speed."thumbsup"

As someone who rides a bicycle on the road (always in the right hand lane and I stick to streets where the speed limit is 30 or less), I get irritated at people in cars who think that the person in the right hand lane should be doing exactly as they require.

BTW, the cops around here have started to crack down on drivers who get irritated with people on bikes....so not just those "slow asses"."thumbsup"

Driving Interstate 5 between Albany & Portland I always think
"I have seen fewer retards at the Special Olympics."
Most people don't know how to drive & have zero consideration for others.

Yup, I was amazed after moving to Washington how people seem to get out of the way a lot more. I did not know they enforced that law though. Going back into Portland can be frustrating, specially when driving my crappy Kia that can't pass for shiz...

We need for this to happen in every state....

My favorites are the buttholes who are doing 60 in a 65 zone in the left lane, refuse to move over, then try to speed up when you go to pass them on the right....

Thankfully passing is not an issue for me whether they want me to or not

One thing happening more and more are 20 cars in the left lane because they can see a big truck 10 miles up in the right lane.
Whatever you do don't pass everyone on the right while actually doing the speed limit and then try to get over when you get to the truck.

I guess these idiots think their reaction time will be too slow at 75 mph to pass when they actually need to :x

People speeding up when try to pass them is one of my HUGE pet peeves! One trick I use if possible I'll accelerate next to the slow driver in the left lane even if I have no way of getting past them because I know 9 times out of 10 it will cause them to speed up (because they're aholes) and then I can usually get around them. Additionally, while I was researching something else I found out this (speeding up when someone is passing) is actually against the law here in Connecticut. And while I've seen it millions of times I have never, ever heard of someone getting a ticket for it.

I also think traffic laws should me FAR more strictly enforced and driving tests should be much more difficult as well.

I get people riding the left lane for no other apparent reason other than eventually, miles down the road, they'll be turning left.

F-Me, who do you drive for?

I fix frozen drink machines, ice makers, soda fountains, etc. The Icee Co. We had someone texting while driving an f450 rear end a woman, knock her retarded. Did not kill her, but ended her life as she would know it.

We do not carry insurance, we self insure. They wrote a check for $28 million. The day the check was written, all the cameras were being installed. Now if you get caught on the phone, fired. No if, and, or buts. And the cameras are always on. The only save "events" but I know mine flashes at least 8 or 10 times a day. When they were new, 200 times a day. SO the entire day was being reviewed. I personally talk to my boss through the camera most days. I know they have seen it, because my boss mentioned it.

I think that speeding up while being passed could technically be considered road rage. I thought I had read one street racing law here in Illinois could also be used against somebody like that too.

Something else to think about too, My parents, sister, and myself all went back to Iowa last spring in two vehicles, the folks had their 3.8l Town and Country and my Sister and I were in her 3.5l (Chrysler Prowler engine) Charger. At one point we had somebody in a Town Car in front of the van would speed up to 70, then drop down to just under 60 (in a 65) repeatedly, so Dad finally figured he had to be drunk and that we needed to GTF away from that Lincoln. Problem was that every time Dad went to pass him, the idiot would speed up, finally we had to wind the two Mopars out to about 90 to get away from him. I've seen people talking on the phone or texting then do the same, and I'm pretty sure tue Lincoln's driver isn't the only intoxicated motorist I've run across who did that.

A fjew Things i have notised on the roads here.

1. The speed on the signs are the MAX speed, you are not forced to drive that speed, but you got to be in the Right lane if you drive slower than that.

2. If the ppl in the Right lane/s are doing the MAX speed, you are not allowed to overtake them in the Left lane, as you will be breaking the speed limit while you are overtaking.

3. Driving the speed limit or slightly under wont hurt you, the posted speed is the Maximum and not the minimum speed.

Leave home 15 - 20 minutes before you usioaly do and chill out if the speed drop a Little under the posted MAX speed.

And i am sorry to say i am one of those left lane huggers, tho i never go lower then the speed limit there, i am aware of my problem, and i am doing my best to not be a left lane camper.
If you find me in the left lane, and the +10 km/h i am doing there is not enuff and you want to break the law even more, just give me a couple of flashes with the light or a short beep of the horn and i will gladly move over.

Or you could say fu.. all and drive as you please, witch is what 95% of all do here when it comes to the speed limit.

If you drive the limit here or +10 km/h as most do, you will be overtaken by virtually all cars that catch up to you.
It seem like its a personal insult to any Dane if he have to drive behind another car, slow or not.

PS. driving +5 km/h here will cost you 1000 DKkr

i cant tell you how many times ive been cruising 10-20mph over the limit on a lonely interstate, come up on 2 semis, and have the guy in the rear almost seemingly intentionaly on purpose try to pass the semi in front of him right as im coming up. a simple second of restraint on his part would have let me pass and not have to wait behind him for miles and miles and miles.

i just assumed there were alot of passive aggressive asshole truck drivers out there who are so bored that they do it just for kicks.

and left lane huggers, you guys can all suck a high hard one.

The notion that there is a 'fast lane' that gives you the right to speed is bred from stupidity. The term comes from back in the day when some people would go well under the posted limit for whatever reason. People who wanted to drive the limit would use the left lanes. Most counties around here will allow you 5-10 over but technically you are still breaking the law.

We dont really have a problem with droves of people going 5-10 under in the left lane around here, we have the opposite, people who want to run 15-20 or MORE over the limit. Not only are they breaking the law but its extremely unsafe, and no I will not move out of your way. If Im in the left lane on the interstate around here where the posted limit is 70, and Im doing 75-80 and you want to run 90+ you can go the F around.

The problem with speed limits is you give people an inch and they want to take a yard. The 'general assumed given allowance' of overage was the worst thing ever. There are places that see that folks are running 10+ over on a regular basis and so they raise the limit to make it legal. All that does is give the same people the idea that they can now run 90 in a 80 when they were running 80 in a 70.

.

Doesn't bother me a bit to go around people that wont move over in the right lane.
The problem is the A holes in the left lane that speed up and try to box you in for no other reason then they are butt hurt because they are being passed on the right.
