Kyosho outlaw rampage pro

Maybe I've already said this... I want to hate it, but I'm strangely drawn to it, the more I look at it. The dimensions aren't as small as I'd originally thought either. If it will legitimately stand up to a 540 brushless on 2s, this could be a sweet little backyard racer. Of course, you'd need at least 2 of them.

Yeah thats one thing I'm curious about too. I take their 540 motor rating as saying no brushless or 3S but I'm only guessing. Though I think theres a nice sweat spot with a slow-ish but peppy truck, 6S is fun but there's just no control or finesse at all. From the videos of the last gen (non pro) it seems just a little bit too slow so I hope it can stand up to a bit more speed. Not so much top speed but acceleration.

I did just spot that these come with clear bodies which is awesome!

Yeah I'm really curious as to what sort of power these things can withstand.
Is the MOA setup on this truck from another platform of kyosho's so maybe there might be examples of capability already out there, maybe even upgrades already available?

I would really like this to be nearly as fast as my RTR yeti on 3S. I doubt it, but maybe its possible with upgrades like metal gearing.

We shall see...

Put it on backorder... :) $219 is a pretty good price imo.

Should be no problem on 2S. Gears look wide and beefy, there's a slipper in the transmission, and it's 2WD which puts far less stress on things. Will be ordering a spare set of gears just in case. Hopefully not needed, but good insurance.

just my 2 cents : It's not going to be a crazy power truck... A good power system and 2S should be plenty. With just RWD, somewhat narrow stance and scale-ish tires, I think anything more will just end up as wheelspin and barrel rolls. It's not a Slash by any means. I've got a 3800 2 pole ready to drop in - I'm thinking I don't even want the extra torque from a 4-pole. Remains to be seen. :)

I put one on backorder too. There are a lot of new truck releases lately but this intrigues me the most. Kyosho tries things a little bit off the beaten path (like the chain-driven Mad Crusher for instance) and I've wanted to give them some business for awhile now.

I agree with the general thoughts in this thread about brushless, and I'll be going with 4000kv on 2S. I was thinking about 3500kv but the transmission ratio of 12.65:1 is pretty high so I'm betting some extra RPM won't hurt. Can't find an English manual yet but the Japanese one seems to show there is room to gear up as well:

According to a random top speed calculator I found online, 4000kv on 2S should give this truck a top speed of about 30 mph with the stock gear ratio.

I've built a lot of Kyosho vehicles over the years. They are generally well designed, have excellent tolorances, and very durable. Anxiously awaiting mine.

Great info, thank you kind sir!"thumbsup"
looks like i need to search for some brushless setups!
need a couple 2S packs for my on-roads im working on too, so as long as i keep in my head "3S for my crawlers, 2S for everything else" i should be good.

awww bummer.
well maybe that's good. (for me)
between this, the enduro (maybe) and the trail king... too many new rigs at once!

Well it's officially late June, has anyone heard anything?

I paid for the pre-order so long ago now, it's going to feel like a free truck when it finally shows up. So at least there's that.

yeah i haven't forgotten about this either. not going to be able to nab one at launch though. probably going to pull the trigger on a new crawler first. BUT! i will get one of these eventually. for sure.

ETA now "Late July" ... I'm a patient man, but what is the damn hold up? It's a slightly upgraded version of a truck that already exists! Announcing something, then making people wait months with very little info or updates kills off any excitement you generated at release time. That's marketing fail 101. Ask HPI.

Deep breath.... ok - vented, back to patiently waiting.

actually it could be really smart, letting everyone's wallet recover from the slew of new trucks coming out.

i cant get another rig until at least after the holidays. but this will be that next rig, for sure. then, its (finally!) off to the drifters...
