Not going to lie, I really dig the way it looks. I just wonder why they decided to use a MOA solid rear axle.

Hope it handles better than the grasshopper/hornet. Should looking at the suspension setup. Plus, no torque twist!

Strength, simplicity, no torque twist, and lower COG. No need to have the motor and trans up in the chassis on a basher - there's no performance benefit. It's just a scale effect.

I dig it... looks great, and might be a fun backyard runner. "thumbsup"
 
The more I look at this thing, the more I like it. They made the position of the spare tires adjustable so you can use the weight for chassis tuning. You can see the way it slides in and out. Pretty cool.

"Real roll cage with two spare tires not only delivers scale appearance but also provides structural and setting functionality. Changing from horizontally mounted tires to 1 vertically mounted and changing the length can alter the weight balance for adjustment of rear traction characteristics.

Mounting 1 or 2 tires as well as changing the longitudinal length significantly influences rear grip. These parts play a functional role in enhancing driving stability."

It looks much better than the original release that looked like a Ford Ranger. Still not my cup of tea though. And Kyosho parts supply, especially of the aftermarket variety, just sucks.
 
Everybody thought this thing was a flaming pile of crap, then all of a sudden Kyosho pops a new body on and everybody is fawning all over the thing.

I guess Kyosho just proved that it is possible to polish a turd.

We're not fawning all over it, we're noticing the changes they made, which pretty obviously go beyond just a new body.
 
They previous Ford Ranger body style and this one are both pretty cool looking and probably good bashers, but not good parts supply OEM or aftermarket. :)
 
I was trying to look up the original release and was quite surprised that the only place selling them (out of my usual sources, RPP & Amain) was Koyosho themselves. I thought that was pretty odd.

I'd definitely snag one of these if it didn't have the MOA setup. I like that they've added more structure to the rear as the original bed looked to move and flop around a ton when driven since the rear posts were so far forward. Hopefully its better but I do see the tire mount is mounted with body posts that point back so it still looks a bit flimsy.
 
you all should not be surprised, this hits a lot of wickets for me.
- RWD solid axle, front IFS
- awesome "ford-ish" body
- 1.9 not 2.2 or 2.2/3
- CLEAR pre-cut body!

but like most of you, MOA = what?
looking at it, maybe that receiver box could be relocated, and a good bomb-proof basher transmission could be bolted there, slap a hot brushless 3S powerplant in there (a gyro would help too) and a driveshaft to whatever axle you want to run out back. BLAMMO. i might even try to hide some sort of onboard audio for v8 noises... maybe.

i'm even wondering if this could be adapted for on-road stuff with a wheel swap and adjustable links... hmm...
and yes i had all these same thoughts on the last version, but this one does look to have a number of "improvements".


now my yeti's fate is unknown, AGAIN. just waiting for price and distribution details, since i found the same as Humboldt... only from kyosho?

I can order this from my LHS. The question is should I.... I'll ask price details when I pick up my UMG10 in a few weeks.
 
I don't even see it on Kyosho's US site yet. Seems like we need to wait longer for it to become available online. Somebody yell if/when you see it.

Well I didn't look at this the first time either but the BS article says its "Coming to hobby shops this May"

Weight placement. Less mule kick. not having a front diff, and a trans+motor setup on the chassis, will yield less mule kick.

It would be cool to build a 2wd sct similar to rc4wd's old solid axle slash conversion... but the drivability would not be fun..
 
So this might actually drive better than my yeti?
I can't tune shocks/springs for beans so that could be part of it, but that thing is better at twerking than jumping lol

I'm really considering this. Only downside is everyone saying no parts support.
 
In theory it should. But, it lacks a front diff. I think it will need some sort of gyro to keep it straight on the ground, but in the air i think this rig will take a 1/10 scale track okay.

I dont see this truck going as fast as a baja rey though.

As for no parts support, meh. Its there, but lacking. Its kyosho. Always been like that in the states.

Yeah I can put a sorta okay gyro in there if I get another rc4gs RX for my radiolink TX. Those RX have a gyro built in. Tested it on my RWD converted tc3 drift project and it didnt work fast enough for that, but it should work ok for keeping a truck straight on dirt.
Hopefully I can get 3s power without shredding the gears though. That's another reason I would ditch the moa setup.
