Losi Xcelorin Sensored ESC/Motor Combo for the MRC!

So I started with the 15t pinion as that is what a local Losi sponsored driver said that most everyone on the circuit is running them with.. The only bigger one I have is a 16t.. If I need more wheels speed, I'll just throw on a 3S lipo "thumbsup"

I would also think the cogging would get worse with a higher toothed pinion.. But then, I'm not sure the cogging should be there anyway.. I'll be talking to my Losi guy in the am and getting any setup tips from him also..

Don't take the cogging statement to harsh.. It is very minimal and you really only experience it at the slowest possible speed. I've never run a brushless motor, so I don't know if that is normal..

Best place to order this thing? its hard to search for it seems and not alot of places have it. I want to get it as quick as possible.

Would love to see some video of this combo haulin and crawlin on a 20T pinion. Can't decide whether to piece together a sensored brushless system from different manufacturers or go ahead and get the Excelorin combo.

Comp got called off due to rain, but we did get a few runs in before calling it.. I didn't get a chance to run the comp, but I did get some practice in after..

I had to dial some throttle expo into it through my radio as it was a little "jumpy" just starting off. Not really bad, just not what I'm used to.. After doing that, it starts off slow and smooth.. You don't notice the cogging at all while on the rocks..

Drag brake is super. You have to watch it on downhills as it will flip the rig if you're not careful. Didn't get a chance to change any settings on it other than I used the field programmer to dial it back to 80%. That's not nearly enough. Might be able to try 90 or 95% through the pc I/F though.. the field programmer jumps in 20% increments.

Wheel speed was more than adequate on 2S with the 15t pinion and it does have more torque than my previous setup..

All in all I call it a winner "thumbsup" I don't regret making the decision at all..

There is enough room to use a stock pinion, but its tight. I believe I had to install my pinion before installing my motor.

These pinions from the Mini-T are wider and mesh nicely with the spur. I'm running my mini Xcelorin system geared 20/58. It's fast

I got mine running last night. I haven't got my pinions from losi yet but I did get a 17 T from lhs. I have the acceleration set at 80% and it is fast. I also installed some MIP shafts. It is in a gc3 chassis and I'm still waiting on lhs to get 39mm Traxxas pins so I can finish up lower link mounting as done in harleys gc 3 build. I didn't loctite in the set screws into the shafts yet as I knew I would be taking it apart and it didn't take long for the rear to come lose while climing a steep pillow pile. Dig would be nice in a mini. lol I hope to have it together and on some real rocks at the rox box and I will be running it at the cattle crawl on 5/1 Will let you know how it turns out. Sorry I can't compare to anything but stock"thumbsup"

Ordered it from Ebay from a RC store. I paid alittle more but they claimed the bes shipping. Eveyrwhere i looked was allow 3-5 bus days for shipment. I am heading out of town and im impatient so i paid more to raise the chances of it arriving by thursday. I just pulled my Sidewinder and HH MTM 33t last night so i can compare those two once i get mine installed. Also if i sell the Sidewinder micro quick i will order the Goose system and compare it to that as well. My daughters scaler could use the Goose anyway and they are eveyrwhere for cheap.

Sorry I missed you, the Team was down south at the ECC doing work!

We ended up running a 18t on 2 cell and it was perfect and very fast racing to the next gate. Jake said he set his drag break at 90% and it was safer to drive down those steep hills. I haven't tried it yet but will to some tinkering this week after watching him on a few courses.

Do work Jay!

My Xcelorin was ripping it up all weekend. Nothing like having to rock race 50 yards to the next gate with under a minute to go. I'm running my xcelorin geared 20/58 and I'm still getting around 25 minutes of runtime with a 600mah Losi 2S pack. I set my inital acceration to high and my drag brake to 90%. The drag brake is very smooth and controllable now.

This setup is fast enough to pull some pretty sweet tricks and slow enough to crawl through technical stuff. 8)

Losi one-niner Factory Pilot ready for take-off.:lmao:
I got mine running with a 17t pinion and will be taking it to the rox box tomorrow. I still haven't got those pinions in the mail yet from the support dept. that were mailed on the 13th. Maybe they should have put them on your one-niner and had you aim for Indy. Im sure they will get here someday.

Congrats Jay and Jake "thumbsup" Nice showing....

No worries about last weekend... Might have to look into getting an 18t pinion. I did get some time on the rocks Monday afternoon and I really like it the way it is... But, I'm always open to change...

I do have a question for you guys though. When I turn on the controller, the steering servo goes full lock left and right.. It's always done it a little bit, but this is a bit much as it flexes my servo mount.. Any ideas on that?

Here's my electronics:
Ko Propo UR-5 EX 2.4ghz 3ch radio
KR-407s receiver
Xcelorin Combo running on 2s
Hobbico CS-170 powered from a CC BEC at 6vdc

Mine is on base and headed for the mail box!!!! cant wait to grab it up and install it. Charging the new Lipos now!!! Also i got to grab some pinions because all i have is a 10 or 11 and the stocker. But atleast ill have it going and if i get to NC early tonight i can grab some on the way by the hobby shop up there.

i have a bec that does that so that might be your problem. without the bec or with a different bec its fine, its just that one that does it. its never really bothered me that much so i just run it and wave back when i plug it in. i dont want to be rude to the truck

BTW are you all running external BECs? I have one but i have heard great things about the Excelorin on board BECs. I might throw it on but the less wires the better cause i suck at making them pretty!!

Cole

I dont' run one either. Its already tough enough to make the wiring look nice in a mini

I've ran a JR8711, a 9100T, and a Hitec 7955 off of my 1/18th xcelorin's internal BEC with no problems at all.
