Lower shock link mounts...

I need to get some lower shock mounts that will rotate the mounting eye of the shocker 90* so it runs in line with the truck and not across the axle like it does now.

Does anyone make a billet set? I have looked around and can only find ones that keep the mounting eye running inline with the axle. I dont want to rotate the mounts as I like the fact the shocks acts on the top of the axle.

You're not making a lot of sense. Are you trying to keep the shock mounts on top of the axle or trying to move them behind the axle?

He is just looking for something that will turn the lower eye 90* so it won't be in a bind.

Trying to keep the shock mounted on top of the axle, but have the lower mounting eye twisted 90* to stop it binding because of the angle it sits at with a stretch kit.

The HPI crawler kit would do the trick, but I only need the lower shock mounts and they probably wont sell them seperately, so looking to get some ally/billet ones...

Ahhh... Now I understand. If you can't find any just try and make some yourself. I feel a lot more accomplished when I fab something myself rather than buying it.

Of course there's always instant gratification in buying a part and slapping it on!

I'll admit it, I'm contemplating having a shop cut out my new chassis rather than spending the time to do it myself!

There is an easier solution.... see the pic below, dont tighten the nut all the way, but do use locktight or it will come off, even with a lockwasher.

Decaur: So simple yet so effective, might try that and see how I get on, seeing as its free One thing though, I'd use a longer bolt and have it going through base sides of the mounting, to reduce flex in the plastic and the possibilty of it snapping. Just a thought....

yea I was a little worried about that, but it has held up fine... I figure it should last long enough for the new HPI mounts to come out.... as it is the end of the bolt is aimed just slightly above the other hole, so going all the way through might introduce some binding..... let us know how it goes if you try it...

does anyone have another way other then dacars way? i have heard to rotate the shock mounts so that the top of the mount is facing the middle of the chassis but when i do that with the strc kit my shafts hang below the links

if you were to rotate them, the shock mount would actualy be facing away from the chassis,, with the 2 holes facing toward the chassis, and then you would put the shock in the top hole and the links in the bottom hole. the only problem with rotating the links, is they are keyed to the axle to go only one way.. so rotating them isn't really ideal in my opinion.
the other problem is that you will have to adjust the link length to compensate for the new location.

Oh you mean the driveshafts? Yea thats a problem. got any pics of your setup? it could be as simple as just needing to rotate the pinion up a bit more....

this isnt my truck but its the same exact set up as mine i just have silver links and color doesnt matter but yes i meant driveshafts

so im havin some problems with my link setup. installed with the link/shock mounts in their normal position, the driveline is at a bad angle, that makes it so it dosent roll as smooth. prolly just a little more stress on the motor. then people said just rotate your link mounts to extend the lower links a little. i did that and it did straighten the driveline but now the drive line hits the rocks before my links. any suggestions on what i should do? heres some pics. thanks guys. i thought about moving the link to the lower hole but dont think that would help enough.:roll:

You need to extend the upper link. look at the pinion angle of the front axle there (non-rotated mounts) thats what it should look like. The problem is that by rotating the mounts you are effectively lengthening the lower links, but you arent doing anything with the upper links. Extend the upper links to get the same pinion angle, and it should be fine.
