M3 M2K's, what is this?

Got my M3 M2K's today and opened the bag. Check out the fingerprints and residue all over these tires. I've not seen this before, CA residue? Plus the beads seem deformed in a few spots, like they were stretched outward or something. Anyone else noticed anything like this on their M3 M2K's, or any other tire? I'm sure that the residue will come off after washing them or it'll just wear off, but I haven't tried removing it yet.

Shot a bunch of pics.

Looks like what IMEX tires did for awhile. You clean em off and it comes back. I do not have mine to check yet. If no one posts up I think Ill have them tomorrow and I will check. I would not be too worried about the funky color dust, as much as the bead. I would contact Pro Line and see what they say . Phone 951.849.9781 I know they are real good about replacing bad product.

Wow man, that's not what I was expecting.

The thing on the bead is where the mold was attached.

Alot of my proline tires had beads like that, didn't hurt anything.

Ditto. They have been like that for a long time. It happens more on the 2.2 than on the Monster truck tires. Probably because the thicker bead on the Monsters.
As for the finger prints. I don't know about that. Have them run thru the FBI data base. Maybe they can track down the touchy feely tire grabber guy!

I knew that the sixth pic down was from where they were cut off, guess I didn't need to post that one. But the other stretched parts, I don't know, guess it's normal for Pro-Line. I wasn't worried about it as they are going to be beadlocked, but just thought it may have something to do with the new compound being softer. I'm still stumped on the fingerprints and 'dust'. I have the other bag that I have not opened and the prints and residue is all over them too. I'm going to go wash one down with soap and water now. See how that does.

Seems like they still have some mold release (brownish colored stuff) on them. It's rather unhealty.

I've seen this a good bit on the Losi pins too.

My Imex tires would turn white over time...not all of them, just some. What's weird is that they had no signs of mold release being on them.

Remove the foams, leave the tires dry, and spray them with Simple Green and scrub them down.

Rinse with hot water (evaporates faster), let'm dry.

JIA. You must be right. I rinsed one off with hot water and a little dish soap. I tried just a dab of water first and the residue was coming off and it was the color of rust and gets on your hands easily. Had no idea what it was then I come and read this. Gotta love this place. How unhealthy is it?

BTW, the bead seemed to have 'fallen' right into place after the warm bath. I've never had any brand new out the bag Pro-line's until these, just second hand ones.

I'm really excited about this tire though. It looks like it is going to grab and hold like a motha. Can't wait to run it.

Yeah, just hit'm with Simple Green.

It works best if sprayed on the tires when they're dry (doesn't dilute the Simple Green)...you can watch the gunk run off them.

But spray, scrub, rinse, let dry, repeat if needed.

The reason for the bead being the way it is...

1. Thin carcass of tire (sidewall)
2. Soft compound
3. Thin bead
4. Foams deforming the tire

How unhealty is it?

Take a look at it...you want that crap on your popcorn?

Be sure to wash your hands before you eat. "thumbsup"

I followed your instructions with the dish soap precisely as instructed.:) Not only are they clean of mold, but sticky too."thumbsup" I had no clue what the heck the brown mess was and before I could even tell anyone about it, the answer explaining the mystery rust was staring back at me.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

every M3 holeshot ive ever had were like that, for some reason or another just washed and mounted. Sucks when u get them at a race and need to mount them takes extra attention:x

my m2 mashers also came with the bead like that

also what the difference between the m3 mashers and the m2 mashers ? .. the tire sor the foams?
