Mamba 25....Park 480 issues...cant get it to stop cogging

I have tried nearly every setting and combo of on the mamba 25 and under any stress the at low thottle settings it will just sit and rock back and forth....apply alot of throttle and it takes off.............any ideas?

What settings are you guys running on your BL setups on the Mamba?
 
I use the lowest setting on starting power and timing. Seems to work great with the revolver.
 
My first guess is that you have an old controller.


Do you have access to a castle link? How long have you had the controller?

controller just cme into my local LHS 2 days ago......no access to castle link

You have any in stock.......the LHS has had it on back order
 
just a guess but the 480 is rated at 22a continuous current and 28 max which is more than the mamba is supposed to handle although its not under much load it might juat need so much powwer that it wont run smoothly maybe

Is the sticker like THIS or is it darker? The darker sticker is the new controllers. If you have a new controller I bet you have a short in the motor, or one phase is dead.

The mamba has more than enough power for the Park 480. It is rated 25 amps continous, 50 amps burst for 30 seconds.

and it does work the motor I mean, if on flat ground it has no issues and plenty of tire speed. if I stop and try to slowly go up an obtacle it just sits there, stalls and trys to restart........tries to get going will move forward a tad then die again.
 
hmmmm. New controller, probably has at least the 3rd version of the software, so all is good there. Im gonna say the motor is probably bunk. Do you have another motor to try out? Do you have access to another ESC? Do you have a multimeter to test for shorts and continuity?

I do have a multi meter........how do I test?........and no other esc's
 
First thing to check is continuity. Your meter either has a continuity tester, or you will use the resistance function. HOok up one lead to one motor wire, and test the other two wires for a good curcuit. Move the first test lead to another wire and test again. All should show current and basically no resistance. Testing for shorts is a bit harder, and will require taking apart the motor.

With the way the setup is acting, it really seems that the controller has old programming (with a new sticker? not likely) or the motor has a bad phase. The new controllers will still make a bad motor run, albeit erratic and jerky. See if your lhs will let you test another motor.

last one iin stock...........the motor isss smooth at higher rpms.

this is the adapter plate on the motor that I just made.......yesterday. it lines up with the standard park screw pattern and has threaded 4-40 screw pattern for the 540 motor. uses the stock 4 countersunk bolts that come with the park 450 etc to mount it up

6 cell 1200 and 1400 2/3A intellect 1.2V
 
Try programming the start up with a different setting yet?
