MAXXMASHER
Rock Crawler
I made it to the hobby shop and picked up a set of Micro T shocks. I wish they sold these in pairs, so I could get two sets of rears. It's alright though, I really only need the to replace the rears. Due to the angle of the front shocks, the front sits low enough.
Comparing the lengths of the micro-T's rear shocks and the crawler's stockers.
Took apart the stockers to swap out the caps.
Mounted up and ready to go. I took off a few of the coils to allow a bit of droop.
I also picked up some magnets to better attatch the hood. It was fine at first, but after a few roll-overs, it kept popping off.
I glued them to some dense foam to raise them up to hood level....
and attatched a couple of metal strips to the underside of the hood.
While picking the magnets up, I spotted these.....
which make for some good tow mounts.
I also got into taking apart the wheels to add a bit of wieght and to star-cut the foams.....
I added a few wraps of solder to the rim and did a little work with a razor....
And then I decided to paint the centers with a little chrome silver.
For the fronts, I'll use these for more weight and skip the foams all together. These will suffice until I get some proper beadlocks.
I also grabbed this guy.....
Gotta have someone riding shotgun! (I threw the rears on one side to see how they look. I'll get to the front wheels a little later on...)
