Making good progress. I had the exact same issue with my spur, still have yet to figure out what I was doing wrong to get it right.

Yeah, I kind of put it on the back burner this week. Got my garage all cleaned up and everything put in it's place. Looks like a proper workshop now. The problem with the stupid spur gear is there is no cross pin like most have. Just friction plates. Too tight, nothing will move. Too loose, everything just spins. Having those giant monster tires on there add to the problem. Still trying to sort out the suspension, too. The minis are just too big. Working on a different idea. Need some Miclaws and I'll kinda set it up like a jacked up mud truck. Maybe I'll scrap this thing and start over. Getting annoyed with it.....

Why not just ca glue the front plate on the slipper to the spur, thats what I do with most my rigs...Don't scrap it its too cool!

Try to scuff up the spur before you glue it mine broke loose still when I glued it.

I did glue it, and I pretty much have that problem solved. The main problem with the thing is the suspension. The frame is too wide for the axles, and that is a big trouble. No matter what I try, there is too much angle to let the suspension work properly. What I need is stock micro shocks that are twice as long. The mini crawler shocks are just the right length, but the angle is too much. I thought about inboarding the top of the shocks, but then my battery wont fit. Still working on this.

I finally have my suspension problem solved (I think). Don't know why I didn't think of it before, but I took off the ball studs that I had in the sides of the servos and replaced them with screws long enough to get the bottom of the shocks parallel with the tops. I put a spacer in between the shock bottom and the servo to keep it from flopping around and took out the shock fluid and am running full droop. This allows the suspension to flex easily with zero binding. Very good! I had to trim my screws down so the tires wouldn't rub the shocks when turned and the stance of it looks pretty good. I have to play with the servo horns a little to get the thing to track straight and also play with the radio a bit more to get the throttle response I want. Right now it's a bit jumpy off the line. I also have to finish some of the detail painting and finish up my battery enclosure. Not too much left. I'll have some pics up tomorrow.

Tonight's session was very productive! I got almost everything done on my wish list. The suspension works great, I got both of the servos centered up, I cut and painted sleeves for the links, got my detail painting done, and I got the throttle under control. I even had it running around on my micro course. Very good. I still have a few coats of paint to put on certain parts, but it's almost done. I also have to put in the windshield and the light covers, too. I'm using Plastruct tubes to cover the lower links, and for the uppers, I'm just painting the threads since the bends make them impossible to cover. For paint on the covers, I mixed chrome silver, white, yellow, and a touch of green to try to match the body color. Came pretty close! I also got my battery plate cut and painted black. The inside of the wheels got a chrome silver treatment and I also painted the edges of the windshield opening black along with the radiator insert and the door handles. (Why it has those, I don't know) Do the doors of a monster truck open? Looking pretty good considering a week ago I was ready to turn this pile of parts into a Bronco......

I also got tired of searching through multiple boxes for stuff, so I organized everything and got my parts into two boxes.

All in all, a challenging project, but I am starting to like the results!!

i too am tired of looking.. so this sux.. 3 months ago.. I threw out a box that had TONS of computer screws.. I said.. wth do I need these for so I threw them away.. in that box was baggies... ok ok let me clarify... all from computer parts but they were nice and small... anyway... I have been on the search for something to put screws in.. I used penny coin holders.. working so far.. but they are just too big...
also using a double sided box like yours.. got from big lots... i havent put my stuff in it yet but will and take pics....

find a bead store, or a place that sells jewelry making stuff, they have zip-lock bags in ALL sizes from tiny to huge. my Wife keeps a stash of small bags for her jewelry making, I steal a few from time to time."thumbsup":mrgreen:

This thing is almost complete! Can't believe how long it has taken me. I got the link covers painted and installed and replaced the white rod ends I was using with more black ones I got in the mail. I think I'm also going to paint the diamond plate cover green to blend in more. All that left is to glue on a few body details. Looking good....

I think I got the color pretty close on the links to match the body.

Well, this baby is just about wrapped up. If history holds correct, after a little running, I'll be fixing, correcting, and improving a few things. Tonight, I put the finishing touches on my micro monster. I decided to sandwich some earth magnets between pieces of metal on the roof cage to hold the body on. With three of these magnets, I can pick up the truck by the body. I also painted up the diamond plate panels to match the body color and got those mounted. I got the windshield in and the lenses for the lights in. The rear bumper is on and I put in the battery tray and added some Velcro to hold the battery in place. Truck is looking pretty good!!

Just ordered some Rctrax Qlo tires from RC Mart! As soon as I heard they were back in stock, I jumped! I think these will be some good tires on this truck when I actually want to climb something with it.

only thing im thinking though is you will need a way to lower it with MiClaws... i dont think they are nearly as big as what you have there!!!!...

yeah i got 2 sets coming... and 1 set of rims that they can go on... so ill be ordering up another set of danally rims soon!!!!

I may do that, or I might just do another build. The only things I would need are axles, and an esc. I have so many spares, I have nearly enough to build another truck! Been considering doing a six-wheeler Man build or something off the wall. Time will tell. Been getting my Wraith, 6WD rig, and SCX-10 ready for a four day crawl fest when we go across the state to visit my bro-in-law soon. Hear that, Tim? Get 'em ready!!

No need to fear. I am ready for your arrival already. Trying to finish up the crew can for the maiden voyage, but we'll see if u can make that happen or not... I thought about making my micro run as well, guess I better dig out those parts and get on that.

I got my Miclaws just in time! Going on a trip for five days that will be filled with lots of crawling time. I got a set of Micro stocker wheels from my bro and got to work on doing the Danally wide mod. I secured the wheels to a long screw and nut. Secured the screw in my drill and pressed a new razor with my Kolbalt box cutter as I rotated the wheel. A few minutes, and all four were cut. I lightly sanded all edges to be glued, cleaned up with denatured alcohol, applied some super glue, and clamped them over night. When I got home from work this morning, I checked them out, and they looked perfect. I took two sets of rings and gave one set a coat of brushed nickle spray paint and the other a coat of the same lime paint as the monster truck body. For the rear wheels, I'm just using a set of the stock foams, and for the fronts, I emptied three shotgun shells and divided the bb's between the two. No glue yet, until I see how they work. I may have to use some plastic bb's in the front to fill them out more to keep them from folding up under load. Here's a few pics....

Thought I'd get out the little monster and play around on my indoor course a bit. I also realized that I never posted any pics of the truck in action utilizing the Miclaws. These tires are awesome!

Here's a pic comparing it to my other micros. The Hilux looks big compared to a stock micro crawler. The Hummer is actually a Micro-T that has the chassis cut and extended. I also put the stock micro crawler shocks on it to compensate for the weight. The Toyota Trueno is just a cheapie drift car that I want to modify and paint to match my 1/10th scale drift car with the same body.
