Micro FJ40 Scaler

Great pics & killer course + one badass FJ = Pure awsomeness "thumbsup"

Thanx. It's all starting to come together. Pics are getting artsy'er, and truck builds turning out great. Next to learn is filming & editing, to make cool vids, as well as completing the rigs of course.

Love it, Great job! I have the same one waiting in line for it's project time. Hope it turns out nearly that good!

This build is amazing, are those the gearhead micro wheels?

ALso what size ball ends/caps and all thread do you use? Sorry if this has been answered already.

Thanx. You got one too eh? I'm finding it very tricky to hide electronics. A Fingertech ESC helped a lot.

It's turning out. The styrene cage is strong for what it is, but I'm not really impressed with it's strength. I really would like a brass version, but I'm done re-building it. I just wanna finish it and drive it.

The wheels aren't gearheads. I forget what they were called. Got'em from RPP.

Losi #LOSB1040, with 2mm titanium rod jammed in with epoxy. I enlarged the holes first, for a snug fit on to the rod.

I had been looking for them and after seeing the old BJ55's for sale for 200+ I almost gave up, and as soon as I saw these out I snatched one up. Been sitting on the shelf for a while as I have other projects I'm doing first. It's great to see one done and how the wheels and tires compare to it. You inspired me to finally purchase a chassis/tires to base it off. Don't worry I won't copy to much though. I'm planning a red FJ55 like the 1/10 one Dready built the body for Difuser's build. O I'd imagine with all that openness it's hard to find a place for anything... Figure the pickup should give me a lil microscopic space under the bed. Looks like you did a great job though! I love the cage! You got any driver planned? Finding someone pre-made this size is tough.

Steering is sorted.

Modded and silicone-bonded the servo to the bed. Then made a balsa wood crate to hide it.

Looks awesome Nigel! LOVE that balsa crate in the rear and the cage looks really good as well, great work sir!

Ya man, I'm really likng te crate as well. Was going to do the crate in styrene, then scartch grain in it, weather it, etc. Then I figured the balsa wood is closer to look like wood than the styrene. So wood it was.

Them 8trax wheels might have to go on to my next micro crawler. "thumbsup"

Waiting on some electronics to show up, so I've been making some scale bits.

-Recovery line made from the 1.9's kevlar winch line.
-Bungee's from tire packaging and art wire.
-Jerry-can and cage from styrene.

I was originally going to bond the crate to the servo with silicone, but the bungees hold it down pretty good.

Looks really nice, good work!

Thanks. I can't wait to get it running again.

Thank you as well. I scoured the internet on model railroad scenenery, then experimented and mucked about, until I had my own little piece of boreal forest, in the corner of my living room.

The detail and fab work are amazing. Very nice FJ

Thanx a bunch.

More progress. I just have to add a driver and cockpit detail, activate winch and do lighting, then some small tools like a hi-lift jack and such.
Still have to hide the antenna as well.

Check it out after leaving it in the rain:
