Mid 80's Dodge Power Ram build

Little sanding and smoothing. White primer on the cab, the grill and hood have the plastic bond krylon paint as a dark base, still need to work on the hood more. Need to go get another can of the primer, and more styrene to scratch build the stepside bed. Always something.

Whats your plan for the step side box or how are you going to make the flares . the inside part of the box will be easy but the flares will be a challenge .looks awesome "thumbsup"

Well, I'm still working it out. I have a couple ideas, one involves the application of heat, which in my limited experience, tends to make the styrene shrink and warp. Probably due to me putting too much heat to the plastic.
My other thought is multiple thin strips, which bend much easier, can be laid side by side, from front to back. they can be tapered where needed to fit the curves. This how we built Cedar strip canoes, works really well, just have to sand and smooth after it's all together, maybe a few reinforcing ribs inside for strength. As I write this out, thinking this will be the way to go. I'll post up a few pictures of the process when I get there.

On a side note, I'm wanting to sit all of this as low on the chassis as I can, and it will have a full interior. Where I would love to have a transfer case and not have any issues, one is not in the budget. Any thoughts of flipping the Xmsn, so the spur gear faces forwards? I am going to research the whole mirror/flip deal, see if will help in fitment.

Sorry for the rambling, this is how I work out issues sometimes.....

really nice build , i am a dodge man myself . you might check out Dinky r/c he has a kit that would work great for the divorced transmission/transfer case .

Okay, not even ready to mount yet, but I had to see.....

Keeping me motivated.....

Definitely needs to drop a bit more on the chassis.

very impressive...looks like Hoosierdadddy has some competition "thumbsup"

Once again, Thanks guys! Pretty sure I'm not anyone's competition yet, just hope to finish it as well as it is starting.
I have seen Nat's builds on here as I was researching, I can only hope mine will be anywhere near those, very impressive.
Tinkered with some mounting options tonight, not much else, was bloody hot in the garage this evening. Wasn't feeling overly motivated. I should have some updates soon though.

Here's a little bling I whipped up during my lunch break at work. Mind you, the edges need cleaning up, but they should look good on the hood and front quarter panels.

Nice work Len! Love the Mopars! I had a 79, 85 and 91 when I was younger, and recently a 2wd 93.

Thanks! Next project may be to remake the power wagon as a single cab in just styrene, really getting a kick out of working with this stuff.
And yeah, love the Mopars too! First car was a 69 Coronet 2 door, 94 Ram 1500, 87 Power Ram W250(the inspiration for this build), 99 Ram 1500, and my present 99 Durango 5.9L. My wife informed me, when the boys are out of school (2 more years!) I get a new Challenger R/T, hope I can wait that long!

Cool Simon and Simon was a fleet side

Oh yeah, I remember watching as a kid, wanting that truck and Colt Seiver's truck from the show, "the Fall Guy" and the General Lee, of course!
