MNRCRC (Winter?) Meeting

I added Davanni's address to my first post for those who weren't at last year's meeting.

I'd also like to get a feel for 'the market'. What kind of rigs does everyone have? I'll start:

2.2 Pro
2.2 tuber scaler
1.9 SCX10 Scaler

2.2 Pro

1.9 SCX10 Scaler

2.2 Pro
2.2 tuber scaler(have one for Wraith or scx10 so whatever we decide im good)
1.9 scaler

My dad is the same, I think he is going to share my 2.2 pro rig this year so he will have all three.

Hey guys, I have a conflict tomorrow and won't make it. Looking forward to hearing what the plan is.

Made some notes and figured I'd share them. Whatever the outcome is, I'll be as active as possible this summer.

RIGS:
I'm all about the 1.9 and 2.2 scale or trail class. I could run the 2.2 pro with my xr10 but that would just be for fun as it hasn't been tuned for anything.
Whether we follow USRCCA trail rules or SORRCA Class 2 and 3, I think the value of a 2.2 class is high. For us with wraith based rigs or for guys with a ridgecrest, or a 2.2 scx10 it'd be fun.
I built a 1.9 scale trail rig to last years rules specifically to compete this year.
At our scale GTG events this winter we've had a great turnout with many different people coming. Almost exclusively 1.9 and 2.2 scale rigs. However, a few 2.2 sportmans too.

RULES:
Only rule change I'd ask for from what was in for the 1.9 trail class is that you allow 4.75" 1.9 tires (tsl xl, ttc, new axial bfg).

I was doing some reading on the USRCCA trail class and it seems like they encourage clubs to do "run what you brung" pitting 1.9 and 2.2 rigs against each other. May be fun, but also may be lopsided.

TIME/DATES:
I can likely make many of the Sunday comps. However I may have conflicts. Any thoughts about Saturdays? Just asking.

EVENTS/Location:
Would love to see more scale events. A TTC is right up my alley. Ultra 4 would be sweet with my wraith. A G6 style event would be a blast. 2 rig teams maybe? Maybe a 1.9 and 2.2 class. Open to anything scale, only tire size separates.

It seems like the scale trail runs let people just hang out and have fun without worrying. A surprising thing that happened at the last GTG was 2 guys who didn't want to run in the timed comp. They partook in the free crawl time before and after and had a lot of fun. Phil, River, and I are willing to help organize and participate in more scale events especially if they are close to or in the Metro .

Willing to travel a decent distance (unlikely to make the Duluth events). The overnight event south of the metro sounds interesting. With enough advance notice likely could make that.

From what I saw at our GTG's the turn out would likely be better for the events are closer to the city. I know it is hard to find good spots. Just stating this as many of the guys with good scale rigs were coming from the far west suburbs and some from even further away. If no other options exist we'll just do our best to encourage new people to make the drive up to TF.

Thanks for kicking this off and sorry for the long note. Between grunt (River) and orange58crush (Phil), and myself, we really want to see the participation go up and just have fun hanging out with people and playing with our "toys".

Regards,
Dana

Today may not seem like it was productive.. But progress takes time, trial and error. I think we are heading in the right direction. I'll leave Pimp to elaborate on the details but I think it'll work.

Though changing my post was appropriate today.

So I'm changing it to an apology for being such a "dick" at yesterdays meeting. I was way to negative about the proposed changes to basic our structure. I guess I just liked things the way they were way to much.

Anyway please forgive me f you can.

Nobody wants change when they're not prepared for it but we live in a time and are involved in a hobby that caters to instant gratification and short attention spans.

As little as it may seem we accomplished we covered a lot of ground.

Hey guys, sorry I missed out on the meeting, I had several things come up that weren't delay-able. I'll make extra effort for the next one, hopefully work doesn't interfere.
