MOA vs Shafty. which build for comps

I would like to start getting into 1/10 comps. I keep going back and forth between the MOA or Shafty choice. I have a redcat 1/8 which is a MOA unit and I can see the benefits of it, however I also see the benefits of having all 4 wheels turn at the same speed all the time. I have had it where the fronts are spinning and the rear is just not getting enough juice to turn that at all climbing up vertical and over boulders...

can you share more benefits of each type and also with and without using a DIG tranny.

I am considering a pair of Bully steering axles to start the build but I also like the Gmade, axial and Losi comp crawlers so want to know which way is best and if there are any comp limits other than not using 4ws.

moa has a lower COG too. The stall could be fixed by a better/bigger battery.

I got my name on the waiting list for a couple of RC4WD 750 motors. If the axles on my Rockslide die I will just replace them with super bully axles... however that is just my fun machine. I'm leaning towards the bully 2.2's but still need to read up on everything else I need

MOA certainly has an advantage, but a properly built shafty driven by a competent driver can still embarrass a whole bunch of moa fanboys. "thumbsup"

The stall could be fixed by a better/bigger battery.

That condition is referred to as "clod stall". Do a search and start reading.

May do a scale shafty (like the F250 and F650 crew bodies) and a moa for comps...

Some guys also use a 8t on the rear motor and a 10t on the front. Between those two things, that should help with the rear stalling out.

that may be worth a try as I know Redcat has the 8T, 10T is standard

Spend $200-$300 for a shafty...or spend $150 and get a Redcat RS10 XT. Granted, you will run nto clearance issue from time to time with the Cat. But it's basicaly up to you as to wether or not you will be competing with this rig or just bashing it. Exceed makes a decent RTR shafty, or you could buy a Venom and load it up with eectronics. There are some great deals on rollers in the classifieds every now and then. I think I spotted a Losi in there the other day for $80

I actually had a Redcat RS10 XT for my first rig and now drive a Losi Comp Crawler. The redcat so far has only cost me $190 and performed preety good with some very cheap or free mods but the losi has put me back somewhere around $450 :ror:. I really like the losi better but it is all your preference of what you want out of a rig then what the others give and how much you want to spend"thumbsup"

I have seen this happen a few times. I have also seen a girl with a more or less well set up sportsman rig....run right along with guys running MOA....she dosn't win but does very well.

Ive been running an MOA since 2008. I had a couple different Berg setups and now Im running an XR and it will kill my old Moonbuggy Berg which was a great rig.:twisted:
