Motor for a slash 4x4 trail rig

I'm making my slash 4x4 pull double duty until i can talk my wife into an scx10. i was wondering if the novak 18.5t sintered crawler motor would run on a vxl esc and would it be a decent power plant for an scx10 when the time comes if i add a goat esc? also, drag brake is controlled by the esc correct? new to trail/crawling so im looking for some education.

it would be a fine power plant for such a truck. and yes the esc controls the drag break.

unfortunately it might be a little while b4 i get there. we just found out my wife is pregnant so the $30 brushed motors are looking better and better. how big a difference is there in performance between a brushed or a brushless setup in crawling/trail?
