I post pics of this thing once in a while and get PMs about it so I figured I would make a thread for it :) Not so much a build thread being its been running for a few years, but more of an evolution thing of what it started as and where it is now.

It started off with,
An AX10 kit.
Integy 55t motor.
Traxxas TQ3.
Junk on road ESC.
Weak ass Futaba steering servo.
.125 steel frame.Similar to an XTrail.Cut out by Pacific Fabrication.
Early 70s Hasbro GI Joe Desert Patrol Jeep body.

I threw the AX10 stuff between the frame rails, stuck the body on,and drove it as is with a droop setup for a while.

Eventually built a .250 round bar cage, let my girl pick a driver for it , and painted it :)

And to help save the body from from being ground away I skinned the rear with some .020" aluminum and built a front bumper. And I got tired of no HP,crap ESC ,and steering.Upgraded to a 2s Goat system, a 645MG,and MIPs.Got tired of the Rock Lizards and got some TSL/SXs. Also picked up a co pilot my girl named "Tinkerbell" .

Ruined the stock tranny shortly after and picked up an all metal HR unit :)

And as it is in 1:1 land,as the body got trashed things got cut off. Tipping the scales at 15+lbs does nothing for durability. One bad spill bent the rear of the frame and ended I up having to loose most of the rear part of the body. Comp cut the rear, crashed it some more, and ended up tapering the rear to save what was left.

And following a little celebratory drinking after our team came in first in our class at the Parker 425 ...oops :)

I put it back together, crashed it some more, ruined more stuff, stepped up from 7cell NIMH to 2s,and ruined some more stuff :)

There were some things I wanted to redo on the Jeep and shortly after that pic I robbed all the electronics out of the Jeep and put it in a Wraith kit. And shortly after getting the Wraith up and running the Goat ESC caught fire and nearly burned the car down haha.

So after accumulating some parts and me being down for a bit after a little surgery, the Barbie Jeep is back together :)

As it sits now,
Same frame,body,cage,and tranny.
Wraith axles
Slash 2wd front and rear shocks w/Venom Creeper springs
Castle MMP
Tekin Redline 17.5
Castle BEC Pro
Hitec 7954
Traxxas TQ 2.4

I went with Wraith axles for more durability and added width without the use of spacers. And I wanted to lower it a bit and didnt want tons of useless articulation. So after mocking it up with every possible shock and spring combo I have on hand, the Slash rears up front and the Slash fronts in the rear running the Creeper springs is the perfect combo.

I got the body back on,all the wiring cleaned up,and had it out on the pile this morning. I will post up some poser action shots later :)

Their feet have rock rash lol. Those dolls have a had a hard life. Tinkerbell even has rock rash on his head and is missing a hand :)

It might have a floor someday, but for now its just a scaleish basher.

Tires were a huge improvement. The stability with the added width, lower COG,and less travel is kick ass. Before it was kinda tall and skinny, had tons of articulation, and it flopped alot.

Here it is with the old configuration next to my friends leaf sprung Willys.

At bump height in the rear I still had .125" between the right side frame rail and the top of the diff. . So I whipped up some brackets to drop the rear down to take up that space. I just want it as low as I can without interference :)

And I pulled the body for a re paint :)

That thing looks awesome cant believe it is 15 pounds . "thumbsup" I did a hasbro willys jeep with wraith axles but used 2.2 rok loks on it . It needs a re build now

Nice rig, any other info on that leaf sprung jeep?

Thanks :) Best I can remember its built on a Honcho ,all of the tube work is actual chromo tube,brushless/lipo powered, and its cooler than mine haha. I will get pics next time I can.

Thanks:) I cant believe it is either. The parts by them selves don't weigh all that much, but all together oof :) I could prolly loose some weight if I got rid of all the .250" round stock and redid it in tube.

So I re painted it... a different shade of pink lol :)

And as much as I hate to add any weight to this cow I picked up a cheap light kit and stuck the junk in a Radio Shack project box I painted red to look like a fuel cell. And I stuck a spare tire in the back.

And the more I look at all of the really "nice" big Jeeps from which I go my inspiration ,I want to fix what bugs me about this one. What do next haha :)

Did a little wheelin at Moro Stand beach today. I forgot how much fun this thing was !

Thanks :).

I think you might sell a couple of those kits. That's a great idea. Lots of interest in the GI Joe jeeps but not everyone has the means to get one together.

Been lookin for another body and i found this in an antique store in Cambria a little bit ago. I looked at it for a bit but put it back.

Its made by Marx Toys. Not an actual GI Joe Jeep but its kind of cool. More CJish rather than the usual flatty. No real plan for it , but its not cherry by any means so I won't feel bad cutting it up.
