Wow! Im speechless. I now know exactly how I am going forward with my rock course and short course track. This will be much easier and cheaper. I have access to free river rock and dirt. So my only expense will be the portland and sand. I am more than capable of doing the work. Thanks again for all the photos and videos. I love your idea with the bridges. How did you "break" them without destroying them?

My Backyard Course build

This is an incredible crawler course and very very inspiring, thank you for sharing all your hard work with us, and the knowledge.
I do have a couple of questions:
1) How did this hold up to the hurricane this past summer with all the rain?
Since the Port mix was just a cap, and you mentioned the possibilities of cavities under the cap causing issues.
2) Paint, what kind of paint did you use, and how was it applied, and/or isn't there a dye you could mix in with the process as well?
3) Herbicide, what are you doing to control weed/grass growth on your course, I'm either using a product from Tractor Supply, or a mix of Round-Up and diesel fuel.
You're on a couple hours from me, as I'm right out side of Austin, so your ground being clay, is very much like my own back yard, and since the wild fires in 2011 here, the debris of trees is pretty common to get a hold of, rock on the other hand is a bit of a struggle, though I can go and purchase that of course.

Sorry for the long Delay, the Hurricane and winter, along with a ton of honey do's has kept me real busy all through spring, but I'm back at it. We are going to be making major changes, I'm currently getting things organized to start this weekend if not first thing monday.
We will be taking pics along the way but will probably post mostly videos, that seems easier than the old pic whoring way of doing it.
I will go back through the post and find all the questions and answer them all and make videos of me actually making the rocks and structures.
Our goal is to make them more jagged, paint them more realistic, add more structures and track details. We also want to open up the width between the rocks for buggies to go through and add race track details.

It's funny that you say that... I "charge" my buddies one rock per visit, bigger than my fist, not stolen from my front yard on their way in, and NO CONCRETE! I say it in jest, but a few guys have really come through with the rock donations.
