Well boys and girls...I have decided to convert my beloved Scorpion into a SCX10 for my daughter. I picked up a Cruiser body a couple years ago and I guess now is as good as time as any to start the conversion.

Specs:
  • SCX 10 chassis
  • VP chubs and knucks
  • RC Bros brass beefy tubes
  • VP CMS
  • SCF servo mount
  • SCF brass trusses
  • Losi shocks
  • SCF sliders
  • HR sway
Electronics
  • JR 9100 r
  • Castle Mamba Max
  • Spektrum SR 3000
  • Castle BEC
The inspiration for this build.

Start of the parts from my LHS

The start of the project.

My hard body Cruiser.

Bro!

Nice 1:1 FJ and the Taco as well.

I have an FJ hardbody as well but devided to use it on my TwinHammers instead of the SCX10. Looking forward to progress.

Rock on, another FJ Cruiser build! "thumbsup" That should be a fun one! I just did an FJ build, myself, and am still fiddling around with the wheel setup. I used an STRC Short Wheelbase Conversion kit and a new SCX10 JK kit. I luckily found my Nikko FJ body at a thrift store back last April. It was really rewarding to finally get that body on a working, scale 4WD chassis.

I wish it was mine...lol. I was able to find some killer pics of the build.

Thanks. I have done a bunch of searching to find out what others have done since it has such a short wheelbase.

I started the cage work today, but did not shoot any pics...sorry. I have the main structure of the interior cage done. The rear will be back halved to get the wheelbase down to 10-3/4".
Something like this...

It is going to be tough for me to hack up the brand new frame rails, but a small price to pay for an epic Cruiser.

Pic of the cage work so far.

Sorry it is just a phone pic, but something.
I am hoping to put it on the frame tomorrow.

Got a little more done today. Chassis and cage are finally one. I feel the cage will go much faster now.

Here it is under the body.

Thanks for looking.
Let me know what you think.

Update:
Work has been nuts, so I don't get to build as much. I got some new trusses done up. I borrowed the design from 808DA6. He used the design on both his Toyota and his Scout build. I did my own twist on them.

Bent them up out of .125 brass. Link mounts are .060 brass. Then a little silver solder.
Same for the rear as far as material.

Moved the shocks to the top of the axle like the 1:1 that I am using for inspiration.
And another mock up.

Update:

Got it all put together for a couple of quick test runs. Still need to tweek the rear links a bit...way too much rear drive shaft angle.

Here are a couple of pics...
Rock sliders

Sway bar

Front bumper and CMS mount

Feel free to comment...At this point I figure nobody is reading this build.

I read the build and think you did a great job, would love to see some pics of the chassis with the top off.
