My first wheely king

Thought I'd just post a update.......

So far I've took it all apart and decided to make my own chassis..
Couldn't find any square tubing,So this thin aluminum bar had to do....

I still got to make some more bends and stuff but it's coming along nice....

I never could find the square tubing at HD, I pick it up @Lowes instead. I have also made some chassis from 1/8" bar stock and cut it to shape, it is a bit more expensive this way but the results can be nice.

Hmm but that would require and band saw which I don't have lol.......
And yeah I should of went to lowes for the square tubing.....

I'll see how this one turns out first though...

This makes me want a WK - something I've really never had interest in.

My concern with your current design is the lack of vertical rigidity. I need a bandsaw too, but you can cut the aluminum with a grinder or dremel. (Grinder is cheaper) and some files to clean up the edges.

Yeah I though about doing that but i was worried they wouldn't be identical and look bad....

If the one I'm Making now doesn't work out I'm probably going to just buy a axial chassis.....

Hey man, those thin, flat aluminum frame rails are likely to disappoint. When you try and turn your crawler the frame will probably fold in half because there is no lateral (sideways) support. The reason frame rails are made using square tubing cut in half is for those upper and lower flanges that remain for "lateral support".

Yeah that's why I'm buying one

Thanks to lonleycreeper

Thought if just post a update

I bought the diff locks and installed those..... And got a axle servo mount from lonleycreeper..

And just got a axial link kit
And the link and shock mounts from the crawler king.
And a longer aluminum servo horn....

I still need a axial scx10 chassis...

Well I finished basically( for now)
But the steering is horrible and I evan have a long servo horn......

It seem like the rear wheels just push it straight..

Here's some

I'm kinda thinking of just trading it for a axial

You have locked the axles front and rear, correct? Stock servos are not known for their strength. Compared to open diff's the truck will push like a pig in slop.
To remedy this there are a couple things you can do. Upgrade the servo, a hitec 5645, costs about $40 and doubles the strength of the steering, it still won't dominate the truck but will help. The other things are unlock the rear axle and put a real heavy grease in the diff to give you a limited slip, and or under drive the rear axle. Axial gears fit with no mods, only problem is they are a 5mm output instead of the Wk 6mm, so you need to sleeve the output to use the stock driveshafts. Another option is 4wheel steering.

I'm thinking I'll get a stronger servo.....don't really wanna spend the money but I guess Its worth it lol...

I wanna keep the diffs locked also....and I'm bit sure what u mean by swapping the driveshafts?

Well I fixed the steering up pretty good (for now)

I changed the angle of the axle so the steering knuckles were positioned perfect.....I'm evan using the servo saver...
I think I'll get a new servo later that is stronger.....

Next upgrades are gonna be a axial chassis...I can't decide of I want the wraith or scx10 lol

And ill most likely get the axial gearbox also......
