Hi all
I just got my motor mount from RC Guy. I wanted to drop down to a 9t pinion gear. But after installation, Only half of the pinion gear is meshing inside the case. Is this OK or did I miss something. I could not find a longer pinion than the RR.

Thanks

You have to space the pinion properly on the motor shaft. When spaced properly the pinion should make full contact with the gear inside the gearcase. Check out this guide. It may help.

I actually saw that. the problem is the shaft is short. If I go any further up on the shaft, the set screw will not ahve anything to hold on too. I actually have it that only half of the set screw is on the shaft but its still too short

Mine is the same way with the integy lathe motors. I've been running it for a while with no problems at all.

I figured if it strips the gear I'll order the aluminum ones from RC4WD.

I also have the exact same problem with my RCGUY motor mounts I am running trinity Matched Madness motors. I have an original set of JPS Steel gears in both diffs so i don't think it will be a problem but i would still like full contact!

you could also run the lathe motors without the adj. motor mounts. i run my lathe motors with the stock pinions and they are just fine. i wouldn't even put 9 tooth pinions on it, i think it would be too slow. My wife took 7th place in moab with this setup and a mach1 chassis.

Yes I have this probem too.

I have orderd an Adjustable Motor Mount from rc4wd.com

(using the stock motors at the moment)

Does anyone make an 8 or 9 tooth pinion with a longer shaft ?

Are some motors shafts longer than others?

I would like to lower the gearing to get a bit more power.

If you can track down a set of the Bolink 8 tooth pinions they'll work great.

I moved the Robinson 9 tooth out on the shaft as far as possible to get more of the gear faces to contact one another.

Never had a problem until I went to Green River, the front pinion fell off.

Some loctite fixed it. No problems since.
